How to Trade HBD Pumps

There is more than one way to take advantage of the HBD pumps it all depends on your level of expertise and how much risk you're willing to take on. In this post, I will be going over the most basic way I know to make some free money trading HBD pumps.

You're reading this, so I assume you have a brain, an internet connection, and a Hive account. All you need now is to have some liquid HBD in your wallet.
The 20% APR on HBD savings is great but you can outperform it if you trade the pumps correctly. It does require you to always be on top of the market and ready to pounce when the opportunity strikes. I recommend setting up notifications on your phone for when HBD goes above $1.20, I use the Coinmarketcap app.

The best strategy in my opinion is to have some HBD in saving and some liquid HBD. You never know when the next pump will happen, for all we know they might never happen again.

Internal Market

You need to learn how to use the Hive internal market. It is pretty simple so it shouldn't take you longer than 5 seconds to understand how it works.
On the left, you have the option to buy Hive (trade your HBD for Hive) and on the right, you have the option to sell Hive (trade your Hive for HBD). Bellow the buy and sell you have the order book, these are buy/sell orders submitted by other users.

Let's say you want to quickly trade some Hive for HBD, all you have to do is to use the Sell window and match the highest price you see on the buy orders.
In this example from the print screen, the highest buy order is 0.564692 meaning you could instantly trade 1249.173 Hive for 705.398 HBD just by filling that order.

Trading the Pump

Now that you know how to operate the internal market all you have to do is wait for an HBD pump. When it finally arrives you will see the Buy the price of Hive in HBD declining a lot.

Once you think the pump is near the top or if you're happy with the returns you're going to get that's when you will buy as much Hive as you possibly can. For example yesterday I was able to buy Hive for 0,485 HBD each and now, just a few hours later I can sell that same Hive for 0.564692 HBD each. That is a 16% return in just a matter of hours.

This strategy won't work for large sums of HBD since there's not enough liquidity and volume in the internal market to handle it.

I hope you found this post helpful and that you'll make some good trades once the next pump comes back around. Have a great weekend!

Great information and you've read my mind with the questions that I had and made this article. I guess I can simply hold some liquid HBD in my account and simply use the internal market to benefit from any future pumps. I thought that I need to move HBD to UpBit or wrap them on Polygon, but looks much easier using the internal market.

You would have MUCH better results if you could use upbit, but is geo blocked. Wrapping to polygon is hard and has more risk since there’s a bot trading it faster than you plus the bridge might run out of liquidity.
Internal market is the easy way to make a couple of bucks every now and then 😁

nice. can we just withdrawal our hbd from the lp air on cubfinance and send it to hive to trade also?
how much can we lose from withdrawaling it from lp pair?
thanks

No! Don’t do that during a HBD pump, you can make more money, but you would have to catch the pump right when it begins. If BHBD increases in price before you remove liquidity you will have impermanent losses on top of that the bridge might be low on liquidity not allowing you to put the HBD back on hive right away. I would avoid messing with liquidity tokens during pumps, unless you’re very experienced 😅

Great post... I'm planning to start trading hbd and hive in the internal market when I have saved up enough hbd and yes I would like to out perform the 20% return through that.

I got some HIVE when HBD pumped yesterday.
So I converted my HIVE to HBD and got instantly 1/2 HIVE value in HBD, and I bought HIVE with this HBD.
I did 7 rounds with above steps and I'm waiting for 3 days to get my HBD. I will convert again HBD to HIVE.
Let see how much I gained with this method :)

This is a good strategy of course, but given the liquidity it is just for leaning basics and applied to exchanges. Just a little patience and a higher return is guaranteed.

Last time round I was watching the hive pump and I traded that. Though not with the internal market. I guess this is a good way for some extra pocket money
