Bottom of Buy Orders .:. dCity Investment Progress

avatar

I will try to be objective in this post and reasonable, but it's getting harder and harder to be like that... I do understand that development can be prolonged, projects got delayed and problems can arise... But... That shouldn't be an excuse every time, and there should be some kind of communication in official channels... Like blog, website, etc...

So, the situation isn't great... We got the promise that 3rd edition cards will be out until the end of March, and we are already in April and nothing happened... We had that series of blog posts about new cards, but nothing after that... So we are in dark at the moment, and more and more people are disappointed with the current status of the game...

Despite high taxes, the value of SIM tokens continued to go down, and I have some feeling that even 3rd edition cards will not reverse that process... But, I hope that I'm wrong about that... To witness that, we should wait for new cards to appear...

At the very beginning, I would like to clarify few things... dCity is a kind of investment game, which implies that you have to invest money (crypto, or however you want to call it) that you can play it... And that means that you can win, but you can also lose your investment... So, NEVER, but NEVER invest more than you can afford to lose... I have invested an amount that I can afford to lose, and I'm fine with that...

pg divider203.png

The past week was just a continuation of a well-known downtrend... Except for taxes... They were on an uptrend... :) But, I have to be honest, the prices of some 1st edition cards are still holding quite good and their value didn't drop that much...

We had a day without payment earnings (or the tax was over 100%, I'm not sure about that) when we got only WAR PROFITS, but it was maybe just a game glitch... Anyways, there was no refund or late payments for that (as it was a 0.01 SIM payment, so that counts, I suppose)...

Regarding my strategy, I didn't think too much about the game or investments... As my earnings are low, I have just bought the most profitable cards (population/income/price ratio) and will continue doing that... Currently, I'm not investing any "external" money into the game, but only my game income...

pg divider203.png

I have made one stupid noobie mistake with my second dCity... I have sent scientists there to try to "mine" technology cards, but I have forgotten to buy there the Research Center (palm face)... Luckily for me, @jelly13 reminded me about that in the comments, so I have transferred one card to the second city... Thanks, man! Appreciate the reminder!

As I said in the beginning, the price of the SIM token continued to sink down... On the last day of March, it happened what I mention in the title... On Hive-Engine, we were able to see the end of the buying orders! That's usually isn't a good sign for any currency as it shows that there is no demand for the token... The price sunk to 0.00061 HIVE which was the ATL (all-time low), and then players built up the buy orders back to 0.00126 where it is at the moment...

In the end, as a conclusion, I don't know what to suggest to current players or to some future players... I'm usually a very stubborn, patient, and consistent person, so I will not give up on the game soon, for sure... It doesn't look healthy, but I saw worse things in the crypto world... :)

All that I have stated in this post are MY OPINIONS and SPECULATIONS about the game... Please DYOR and give me your opinion in the comment section... I would like to hear what do you think about all this!

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

High taxes, Increased price of HIVE now makes buying cards via that method almost dumb lol So pretty much what you have is a VERY stagnate economy where nothing is happening. Less people playing, less cards so no real moves within the rankings.

Totally agree with you... But, still.. there are people who are investing, and I will maybe, but maybe do the same if I would have some "insider" information about the game and the future development...

Like I said in the post, don't want to be a negative nancy, so let us leave the door open and see what happens...

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

In my line of work as QA for a number of years there was always a big issue. Devs trying to communicate time lines lol and then relay that information to customers. Which when your company is big enough you hire people to fill that void and pass on the details in a constructive way plus put into place some realistic goals. Most of these projects are one man teams or very few. I still have hopes for it but let off the freakin tax already!

Take this newcomer. They made a terrible build (well, it is better than my first attempt months ago because I read a shaky advice in one of the tutorials linked from Info page and took it way too far). Then they made the math and conluded they get 1.5c daily on a $22 investment. That would be 25 % a year if the current weak economy persists (and they never compound the investment). Does that beat powering up Hive? Sure. Can SIM go to zero? Sure. Can it go up? Sure. Can you/they build a better city? I hope so.

There are people FUDing around while buying and there are the Luca-boys selling and complaining about not seeing their 300 % a year that lured them in. There is also a silent majority.

I agree the PR is weak, even if you hang around at Discord (where the game started first, btw). Word of mouth worked great but you cannot expect anyone to spread positive reviews when the 3rd edition is being promised for months.

We can agree that this weak PR allows speculators to do things that you have described... FUDing in loud and buying in the back... It is always like that... When there is no "official news", there is always people who use that situation...

Word of mouth worked great but you cannot expect anyone to spread positive reviews when the 3rd edition is being promised for months.

Also, agree with this... I don't want to be on the FOMO, nor on the FUD side, rather choosing the neutral position in all this... As I said in the post, I didn't invest more than I can afford to lose, so I will not whine around and ask for my money back... And I will not want to spread "fake positive" (re)views until I don't believe in what I'm writing/saying...

I have kind of given up checking DCity and just let it slowly drip some SIM tokens to me. I think the lack of communication is the worst thing and I am still waiting for a few sentences about Project Blank or bSIM. I don't know what else to do when the taxes are so high and then they drop even further due to sick citizens.

You forgot to mention "general crime", which is also an additional -5% that has been invented like current taxes weren't enough... :)

about Project Blank or bSIM.

I didn't know anything about bSIM? There is an idea to get them out from Hive?

I have started to lose interest in the game; with high taxes and awaiting 3rd addition cards with SIM price falling.. you ought to lose interest in the game.. Hoping that soon things will turn in favor of the City game. cheers

Yeah... Agree with you completely... That's why I'm on a "cruising mode" with the game without doing some crazy moves... nor buys, nor sells...

Delays are common, but I completely agree the lack of communication is a big problem.

I really think DCity needs a PR team.

The odd thing is: people who join the DCity Discord do get frequent updates, as gerber posts responses there quite frequently...

The PR team is a must... I know that Paypal succeeds to survive with shitty customer service and support, but that is just a rare example... Unfortunately, here in blockchain, as someone said, most of the projects are one-man show... This means that something has to lack, and usually, that's PR and support...

I know about that, but an update isn't saying that everything is OK when the house is burning... But, maybe I'm getting all wrong... Or that joke when people are waiting for their payment and every day they see a sign "Payment tomorrow"... That's what we see now...

I play regularly SL and RS... Maybe 5 min per day CBM... Altogether it takes a lot of time every day and I'm stressing about that... I have no idea how can you manage to play 7 or more!?!? lol... Hats off! :)

To play stuff is the least challenging part of the day, to be honest... I wish I could just click buttons...

It all gets FOMO when kids arrive and FYM (F.... Your... Mommmen...) to make life do several 360, turn around 🙃upside down basically. This is great, don't get me wrong, but for the ones, not understanding kids might be a challenge.

Tho those AMAZING beings... please be patient...

Kids are awesome!

I love to be one time to time.
