Being The Only Crypto Investor During Christmas Family Dinner Can Be Exhausting

I believe most of us can relate to this, being known as the only crypto investor in the family, both nuclear and extended, suddenly everyone is coming to you to ask for financial crypto advice. It’s Christmas cmon, I just want to spend the day without talking about crypto for once. No!! You can’t spend the day without talking about crypto, in fact that is the day you will talk more about crypto because you don’t want to look like a douche bag who is ignoring them. That day becomes so stressful you end up coughing a lot because you have been talking a lot.

I dislike moments during Christmas family dinner, where some one be like “hey John, how much can I make if I invest $50 on crypto today?” The answer is I don’t know!!! I didn’t invent crypto, I don’t own the market, I am not a whale yet, and trust me if I know and certain that if I invest $50 right now on a particular coin and I will make $70 in the next few minutes, I won’t be sitting here with you guys. I will be on my private jet or on an island sipping wine on a yacht.

It gets really annoying and cringing when they call you “Mr Bitcoin”. It was funny at first but right now you can feel the sarcasm in their voice. They make it sound like they are making jest of you because they have a regular job they go to everyday while you sit down in front of your computer and look at imaginary money go up and down. Some of them still believe crypto is a scam and fake, I used to be surprised when I hear other people say that, but ever since I realized some people in my family also do, am no longer surprised.

The most ironic thing is when they get owed by their employers and they call you and be like “can you borrow me some money, when my boss pays me I will pay you back”. I wouldn’t lie, the feeling of wanting to rub it on their face on how their boss own their lives would be so sweet, but most times I prefer to be the bigger person.

Even those ones in the family that tend to be more interested in crypto ask some questions that make me laugh. Some of their questions be like “can I pull out my money very fast when I make a dollar profit”, some still ask if they require bringing someone into crypto before they can start earning. No Aunty May!!! It’s not a multi level marketing platform, it’s not a Ponzi scheme!!!

One of my uncles that registered on some crypto exchange in 2017, I don’t know the name of the crypto exchange, once asked if he could move his bitcoin from his laptop to his phone. This question was asked because he thought the coin was saved in his hard drive. Well I will give this uncle an “A” for effort of buying BTC, even if he got it without choice.

Thanks to Mark Zuckerberg he has made the metaverse word popular, I can’t believe I sat down for 1 hour 30 minutes or more listening to how absurd the metaverse is from my uncle. He is worried that we are going to lose our connection with the outside world and nature. Well while listening, I couldn’t wait to go back home or get involved in something else rather than keep listening to people ask me unserious questions about crypto.
