Hive Front Ends - @ecency @peakd or @hive.blog

Which #hive front end you use on a daily basis?

202326.png

I am not sure why but I have never used Hive.blog since the day I joined hive. I registered my account using @peakd I think. And, that was my primary front end all these years. I knew about ecency but there was this odd familiarity with PeakD that I could not break the bond.

PeakD

There are so many positives that I can list when it comes to PeakD. The best tool for me on Peakd was the analytics page. I am a big fan of data visualization and analytics. The PeakD analytics is my favorite part and I always rely on the numbers to measure progress and dissect my daily behavior.

With @Peakd, the number of things that you can do using the application is unheard of. Be it witness setting, creating and organizing samples or writing a blogpost, the application is robust enough to handle almost everything. The Hive Engine page and the integration of HE token is really helpful for newbies without much knowledge on how they work. This Hive front end is a complete package for any Hive users.

Then came #threads

@leofinance recently introduced #threads- a microblogging platform that is not a separate front end yet but enjoys freedom within Leofinance website. The idea is to allow users to send Twitter-like threads with character limitation. I have been enjoying this service for more than a month.

You all are welcome to join the fun. The team is coming up with a new User Interface to promote micro-blogging on Hive.

I realized the importance of an efficient notification system while playing with #threads

Microblogging is all about having fun and enjoying quick conversations. Users would not come back in a day and still enjoy the stale conversation. I am not saying coming back after a day to join a conversation is not right but it is not as much fun. To enjoy the #thread conversations, I needed a notification system that is quick, responsive and efficient.

That’s where @ecency came in

Ecency

Ecency has one of the best notification systems on Hive. They have their native mobile app and it doubles the fun. I am receiving almost live notifications on my #threads so that I can respond right away. The app gives you the ability to like and reply right from the notification prompt and that’s a game changer.

I was introduced to the mobile app first and they went to check on their website. It is actually good. I am not comparing peakd and ecency and saying one is not good. It is good to see two equally good Hive front ends that enhance your experience. Both these platforms are not as sleek as other web2 social media platforms but they do what they are supposed to do.

I am tilted towards @ecency over @peakd just because of their robust notification system and the mobile app.

What do the good people on Hive have to say? Which front end do you prefer and why? How big a factor is a proper notification system for you?

Ecency is my go to now bc of the ease of using it on mobile. Before it was PeakD

Thanks. Looks like I am not only one that prefers a mobile application :)

PeakD has been my favorite when I joined until I found ecency and played around with it :). For me, it was the detailed notification system that ecency had, it shows you everything!

The other thing is the points system. I can engage on the platform, earn some points and use it to boost my post and/or the post of others.

I agree with both points you noted ☝️the detailed notification is fun to play around. Same with points. Have you ever boosted or promoted your posts using @ecency points?

I boosted my post for the very first time yesterday and it worked. I am happy that they have a gamification system to engage and appreciate regular users.

I prefer PeakD when it’s working for me but it sometimes just won’t load pages for me. Then (like now) I use hive.blog as my backup front end. Haven’t used ecency all that much, should try it out more.

I’m guessing the glitches I see might have something to do with the fact that I use iOS and developers tend to do most of their testing with Windows.

Do you use @peakd on your mobile phone? I never had issue with peakd irrespective of the operating system I was using. The only benefit I have with ecency is the availability of having a native app.

It's funny, I used Hive.blog exclusively way back before the fork and also when I came back a couple years ago. Then I switched over to Peakd because their wallet was so much better. Then I found out about the Ecency points and started keeping it open on my browser but still mostly using Peakd. Now, as you say, with the advent of #LeoThreads, I use Ecency the most by far because of the notifications. I also like that they have the SPK token available right there as well.

They all have their strong suits but right now, I'm probably 75% Ecency / 25% Peakd.

It seems this a verdict when it comes to front ends. I need to explore @dalz posts on monthly active users on Front Ends to validate the verdict. I use 85% Ecency and 15% Peakd since #threading happened.

I also enjoy Ecency because of the notifications that keeps coming in. It makes you respond to a reply as soon as possible. I think all frontends on Hive have their usefulness and I am not saying either that one is good over the other, but I will always choose Ecency to post, comment, reply and reblog because I get points for these activities which helps me boost my posts. But for the hive.blog, I don't use it at all.

I am not familiar with teams behind these front end applications except Ecency. It looks like gamification is key for users. Ecency is doing right.

I'm pretty sure I started on PeakD, but my first post was on d.buzz. Then I went back to PeakD and continued reading and upvoting stuff. A friend told me to check out Ecency, and that I'd get points to use to promote my posts. So I did check it out, and stayed. Not for the points as much as for the ease of use. I do have some issues with the notifications, which I have raised with them - I'd like an option to see the oldest one first, instead of scrolling way down to find it, and I don't want to see the ones I've acted on at all. Hide them! Not sure if PeakD, hive.blog or leofinance does that better. I'm too busy scrolling and trying to catch up on posts, replies and mentions to go check! 😹

leofinance though... I pop over there to comment on a giveawaypost every now and then, if it specifically tells me to. I very much dislike that sometimes I'm scrolling the post, sometimes the list of posts behind the popup. The threads are just confusing. I read posts about how great they are, how much LEO people earn from just posting a comment on something or upvoting. But every time I look, 99% of the threads consist of a single link to somebody's post, and if I don't want to read the post why should I comment on or upvote the link to it?

BTW, does commenting on threads from the Ecency mobile app really earn any LEO? I thought using the leo interface was the only way.
