Splinterland land Sale : Second Presale is cheaper than First.

Does the title of my post startled you a little? How can second presale is cheaper when we all know price increase is done after first presale? Below figure clearly mentioned it.

But if you remember correctly, team also said they will honor the peg of $1 for thousand DEC. So a Plot was costing at time was 7500 DEC only. (converted from region Price.)

Now with increase in Plot price , each plot can be purchased for 9000 DEC. (increase from first presale.)

But DEC is tradable token in open market, so let check the price of DEC. Taking below chart from Uniswap.

Wow , DEC chart was showing that it was trading above the peg on that day. So let me take the value of DEC at .00095 (taking 5% discount on peg value, it is very fair price at DEC hovered around this price for a week.)

So cost of plot on first presale is = .00095*7500 = $7.125

Currently DEC is trading at .00078 in Uniswap.
So cost of plot in second presale is .00078*9000 = $7.02

Wow! we are going to get cheaper plot in second presale as $7.02 is less than $7.125

You need to stake more BEER (24 staked BEER allows you to call BEER one time per day)

Spot on. So did you invest in buying the plot. From my side, I'm not planning to buy plots or participate in this sale of land from splinterlands. cheers

3 plots on lastdaypool. I sold my DEC at .00054 , waiting for Hive to recover to buy it back. I never expected that it can cross .0006, but much is attributed to weak performance of Hive also.

I'm so glad the team stuck two fingers up at people that wanted a tract in that first sale - now I don't have $750 locked up in land - I've got $750 of ETH and I doubt land prices will outpace ETH.

Interesting analysis!

But still more interesting is that second presale is sold out in 40 minutes.
If everyone has bought plot for speculation then I fear that someday plot on open market might become cheaper than first presale.

The fundamental problem is this -

Most of the people like me with decks worth the low thousands has bought a little bit land for personal use.

Most people I know who play the game with decks worth less than $1000 have absolutely zero interest in buying land.

Most other people can't afford it.

Most new people would look at even $10 for a plot and think 'WTF'? No way!

It's only a bargain if you're crypto-blind to the dollar price like most players are because we all got in with our 'free' Steem.

The only way LAND speculators are going to profit is if there's a crazy crypto pump - but then EVERYTHING will be going nuts so who knows - your LAND money might have been better off diversified in risky shit coins.

I think my own strategy of buying around 20 plots now is about right.

Of course this all depends on how the LAND is developed - I don't envy the team, it's a real balancing act, they could very easily piss a lot of people off if they get the mechanics wrong.
