Commonwealth Games Coin Album
During the Commonwealth Games held here on the Gold Coast in 2018, Woolworths, a large Australian supermarket chain, sold a commemorative edition of $2 and $1 coins. These coins were released by the Australian Mint to commemorate the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. A large number were be placed into circulation by the mint, but, for a limited time, you could snap up an album with all of the coins for the tidy price of $15.
All up the face value of the coins are $AUD10 but I think that over time this uncirculated set could be worth a tidy packet.
So, they shall go with my other coins and silver that I am slowly stacking to be kept for another day.
Recently, alternative Australian coins and coins with coloured inserts have been the focus of collectors, some fetching some interesting prices. I'll post a few that are in my collection and why they are considered collectable in a future post.

I have good memories to my 3 month Australia tour in 2010. Including the Gold Coast! We had a relax break there before turning on the rough paths again..
Never know when a Mint issue set becomes a hot collectors item.
The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver had special issues of Commemorative coin sets out in special Olympic logoed packaging. I wasn't into coins and stacking then but looking back the demand was good but the value was mediocre because they were far overpriced compared to normal Mint issue and were in large quantities.
On the other hand, my Father left me a pair of 1991 Canadian Numismatic Convention issued coin sets that were no different than standard mint issued sets.
It was the envelope they came in with the picture of the new BC Convention center.
It now goes for 5X the original issue price each.
Only issued at the convention!
