Today I am not only going to share a shiny five ounce bar with you. I’m also going to explain a little stacking strategy.

There are many options to stacking silver or gold. But the basic principles are the same. For silver there is one ounce bars, rounds and coins. There’s also two ounce rounds and coins, not many bar options unless it’s poured silver. Then there’s hundred gram bars and some coins (3.125 ounces). Next is five ounce bars, rounds and coins. Ten ounce is next which is primarily bars with some coins. Then kilos and hundred ounce bars. If you are not looking for pure silver then you could buy constitutional silver coins which depending on the country of origin can range from 10%-90% silver. Also known as junk silver.

Now my advice....

I am not a fan of junk silver but it is a cheaper way to add ounces. There are several drawbacks to this in my opinion. First when you go to sell it, typically you will get 75% of spot price at best from dealers. There is tons of this style silver around and dealers frown on it.

One ounce bars, rounds or coins are great to start with, but the premium is much higher buying this way and you will not recoup the premium when selling them.

In my opinion a true stackers must is five and ten ounce bars. Five ounce bars carry a little higher premium then ten ounce, but half of the one ounce bars. These give you the most metal for the best premium, and make your stack grow much quicker. My go to purchase.

Kilo and 100 ounce bars are much harder to sell. I happen to like kilo bars but the premiums are as high as one ounce bars for some reason. Hundred ounce bars are not meant for normal stacking, these are more of an industrial commodity sell.

Today I’m showing you a five ounce Sunshine Mint bar. These should be a staple to all stackers. A reputable company with a low premium. A side not..... the Sunshine Mint produces all the blanks for every US Mint coin that is struck both gold and silver.
