2023 Lunar Silver Coins: Australian Rabbit, Perth Mint

The Lunar Series III collection was introduced in 2020 and will be available until 2031. A variety of weights—from 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, and 5 oz to 10 oz, 1 kilo, and 10 kilo—are offered for the silver coins. An entirely new platinum bullion coin was added as a significant modification to the Lunar Series III collection. In my case, I only purchase the 1 troy ounce in silver coins.

2023 Perth Mint Silver Lunar Rabbit

In Perth Mint's Lunar Series III program, the 1 oz coin is the main silver coin and the only size with a maximum mintage.

Coin Highlights:

4th year of release in the Lunar Series III program.

Limited mintage of only 300,000 coins.

Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver in BU condition.

The face value of $1 (AUD) is fully backed by the Australian government.

On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

The reverse features two rabbits.

Coins include a micro-laser engraved security letter on the reverse.

JM Bullion

Two rabbits are shown on the reverse of the 2023 1 oz silver Lunar Rabbit Coins. One rabbit is depicted in this illustration perched beneath a limb, vigilant to any potential threats. The other bunny appears unconcerned as it stands on its hind legs and snuffles at the limb hanging overhead.

The Lunar Series III program's 2023 release is a unique one. Ing Ing Jong, a coin designer who has worked for the Perth Mint for more than ten years, has previously contributed to various Lunar Series issues, beginning with the 2013 Year of the Snake. She is the only designer in 2023, and both the gold and silver coins have her rabbit motifs. The platinum release features the gold design.

The new series is beautiful with the mom and baby represented. I have not paid much attention to coins in the past few years and did not even know they minted a series lll. I have the first two and am saving them as graduation gifts for my grandsons. I should get the third too as that would be awesome to have as well.

This is a good set to collect due to its life line. It will be one of the only sets to possibly have 3 Monarchy heads in it.

Queen Elizabeth, King Charles and possibly William.

I do have minuscule amounts of platinum jewelry. But I hope to purchase the 2023 American Platinum Eagle this year. It's one of my goals.

Such cute little rabbits. I like the depiction of the one sniffing the branch. The frosted background looks as if it would really shimmer.
