Lion's Time To Up Our Game Part 2

A couple days ago I wrote an article about us having to up our game in terms of our interaction on the Leofinance platform. In it, I surmised since we are close to attracting people from Ethereum, we all need to do our part to increase the interaction on this site to make it more appealing to the newer people.

Here is the post if you did not have a chance to read it:

In this article, I wanted to expound upon the idea a bit more.

Comments

It all starts with commenting. This is a vital component to increasing the engagement across our platform. There is nothing that screams "dead site" than a bunch of articles with absolutely no comments. If we can put a number of comments on each post, this will help to provide the impression that this site is active and engaging.

One of the reasons this is so important is to encourage newer people to start commenting too. If we can do that, this will help to expand the focus of the site.

A vital piece in this is the fact that not everyone is apt to write articles. However, many will want to benefit from what Leofinance has to offer financially, thus an alternate path needs to be pursued.

Here is where commenting enters the picture. While writing articles might not be the forte for many, anyone can post a pertinent comment. This opens the door for everyone who comes to Leofinance to participate.

Upvoting

We are aware that the reward curve on Leofinance was changed to be linear. This allows curators to receive 50% of their upvotes. It makes manual curating more profitable for those who engage in it.

Over the past couple weeks, a lot of LEO was staked as more people want to get into the reward game of curating.

Here is where the above comes into play. Over the past few days, I am making a concerted effort to upvote more comments. Knowing that people are doing their best to increase the engagements on Leofinance deserves reward in my opinion.

Think of it this way: if a person can get .25 to .5 LEO on many upvotes throughout the day, this will all add up. When someone is new, getting a consistent flow of LEO is vital. Now picture this person putting up 10-15 comments each day.

As for the rest of us, how many comments are we posting on a daily basis? It is encouraging to see the numbers increasing. Perhaps @dalz will do a post, breaking out the number of comments made using Leofinance over time to see how we are doing overall.

In the meantime, it is up to us to commit to adding what we can with both comments and upvotes. Are each of us using our daily alloted votes? This is crucial for newer content providers. Small upvotes, over time, become bigger.

Passing it along is the main focus of this platform. We can share our knowledge, our financial stake, and our excitement for the future with all newer people who are arriving.

This is something rare in the world of blockchain. It seems as if many are still stuck in the competition mindset. This is something that we have to work on breaking. We are all here to help each other.

You have actually said it all. It's imperative to see that engagement thrives it creates a sort of impression that a project is alive and doing well with real time people adding value, creating value and earning from that value. 5 months ago I was almost nonexistent here. But in that space of time a lot has happened for Leofinance and leo the token. Hopefully engagement and commenting can even be better, hopefully we see something from @dalz about engagement

Are each of us using our daily alloted votes?

I’m really haphazard about this. At least a couple of times a week, I’ll notice that my voting power has hit 100%, which shows that I’m not utilizing all of my potential voting power.

you are losing Leo! Don't waste it less here, you can get a juicy profit at the end of the month or you can vote for comments as the colleague said above, you decide :))

If you find your voting power at 100% too frequently, you could set low level autos at your favorite authors.

Absolutely. People don't realize how time consuming it is read the blogposts and leave relevant comments. I find it tough to read more than 10 blogposts in one sitting. I think it is extremely important to encourage new users and let them know that what they are writing is relevant and users are reading. I used to feel that for the first couple of months on the platform are the toughest in terms of engagement. Receive one comment on my post felt like a dollar upvote :D

Well said! It is my mission to increase my interaction as much as I can. The Leo team is doing their part to bring more members, so we must all do our part by actively participating. This is how a thriving community grows!

Isn't that the truth?

The core team cannot carry the engagement on the site alone. They need a lot of help and that is something we all can provide.

Well it is important, if putting up a post like this, to be doing the same myself.

We ALL have a part in this, not just one or two people. No matter what the size of one's account, all can leave applicable comments on articles read.

Yes and yes! Commenting definitely adds more value to the upvote, knowing that people actually read what an author spent efforts to make.

It makes people feel welcome and shows appreciation for what they did.

And it honestly doesnt take more than a few seconds to leave a decent comment.

We are not writing a new version of "Gone With The Wind". Only something that shows how much we can add to what is already taking place.

Never would have been here till now if not for the support i got from kind hearted blogger from comment.

It all starts with commenting. This is a vital component to increasing the engagement across our platform.

This is a very crucial point. Building interaction is building recognitions and recognition gives one relevance.

Learning is, of course, a big part of the role of Leofinance.

That was why Leopedia was created. In addition to the daily posts, more information is located on there that can be sorted through.

This is a vital component to increasing the engagement across our platform.

This is true and I believe that engagement a highly important component on the platform. I agree that if we all start adding a few comments every day then we are going to add much more action and make the platform more interesting. Even from an author's point of view- no interaction/engagement on the post is a kind of demotivating factor.

Thanks for sharing the post about this nice topic.

That is also true. Many get dejected when their posts do not get a lot of interaction. That is something we all must change.

Certainly, we all need to change the scenario and together we can do it.

Yep. Everyone has an upvote that has some value. They also have an idea relating to posts they read. People should want to express themselves and get rewarded for that.

It is a novel concept that few have latched onto.

with linear curve voting on comments is made so that you don't lose on your curation, so it makes sense for everyone. not sure is there dust votes on leo. for a while i started voting on comments on my posts even on hive, don't really care that much about RIO % from it (it is stupid from financial perspective, i know). If you read the post, made an effort to replay, i feel it is a nice gesture to get an upvote, only it is hard to skip the dust on hive, even with 10.000 staked.

For LEO, I do not believe there is dusting like with HIVE.

That is certainly a drawback on Hive that deters people away from the idea of upvoting comments.

What I like about this post is that it shows that voting your own post (or just that) is not the way to grow this platform and in the end to elevate yourself as well. Sharing your vote power with the others, help the small accounts grow and motivating them, in the end you help yourself. And along the way you might make some friends and build a network around yourself that benefit everybody.

Power of comments is undoubtable!

Network growth is vital and people getting a nice payout on comments, even if it is a few cents, is a lot more than they get elsewhere. Do that a dozen times a day, and it starts to add up over time.

If we want to incentivize commenting, we need to reward them.

There a lot of users on social sites and article writing ones that only care to comment and discuss posts rather than make content. Great thinking to expand the community to help more people earn with Leo.

That is true and the difference is here we can reward people and provide incentive to those who want to do it on Leofinance.

Pull some of those that you allude to and put them on here, and we all can make this place a lot better.

Yes, and I will keep saying that interaction and engagement are among the most important tools we have, here. Rewards aside, there's an intangible reward in simply feeling like you've been SEEN. There are entire floors of developers and analysts at Facebook (called "retention specialists") whose entire job revolves around deciding how to design and lay out posts and pages in a way that ensures maximum interaction... because every user gets a little shot of dopamine from every positive interaction they experience.

Sure, genuine engagement takes some work... leaving comments that are actually relevant and on-point takes time and effort; but shouldn't part of the "game" be that the proverbial "cream" should float to the top and the chaff sink to the bottom?

=^..^=

It does take a bit of time but, in reality, it isnt exceptional. A well thought out comment, especially about an article that one already read, only takes under 30 seconds. Of course, there will be times when one gets really excited about the topic and essentially posts an entire article worth of words in the comment section. That can help to trigger greater discussions.

Hehe. And maybe if we give the impression of an engaged community, we will be one! Funny how you worded that. Fake it till you make it.

I'm getting comments out there but I can do a better job finding some of the newer peeps and supporting those posts too. 👍

I have had great results from comments so far, but the results will vary. It depends on a bunch of different factors, such as:

What type of content you comment on, who the author of the content is but also what you comment, or how you do it. Well thought and genuine comments are likely to be rewarded, if not by the author of the content, others (meaning other consumers) are likely to do it. Effort is likely to be rewarded, and that gives you both encouragement and confidence.

I am not ready yet to decide upon a specific number of comments I'll make per day, but having an average is definitely something I am keen to have in the near future.

Engaging and commenting is what lacked HIVE. Leo, on the other hand, has this situation more stable. Probably because everyone can relate to these topics. Maybe just because we're more enthusiastic. Anyway - comments are vital. Not only to earn but to feel that someone is actually reading your content.

Votes matter too. Especially for newcomers who are not brave enough to publish their own articles. If you can have passive income just by reading creative content and leaving your opinion then why not?

Maybe as important as commenting is answering those that comment on your posts. To me it is an obligation and a pleasure to tell those that comment on my posts that I read their comments and I care about them. That is interaction.
