Finally, my Crypto.com metal visa card arrived!

When CRO dropped significantly, I purchased and staked 1000 CRO

I remember looking at this option on the Crypto.com app, and thinking that this 1000 CRO I needed to stake to receive the metal Visa card for free was a bit too high. I had no idea what this CRO would do (do I ever know for sure? lol) and I thought it was too big of a chunk out of the crypto I had at the time. At some point, I checked the price of CRO again and noticed that it would only cost me a little less than 90 dollars. At that time, I decided it was definitely worth buying them, even if only for the fancy looking metal visa card that came with it as these yearly card fees can add up pretty nicely.

Within a few weeks the staking minimum requirements changed

Now you need to stake at least 2500 CRO to get this fancy card (or more if you're going for the upgraded tiers). Thankfully, I was just in time, and the same rules applied for my stake as for now the 2500 minimum requirement. I knew receiving the card would take some months, as I heard this from others that had the same stake. The card status often was stuck at pending or issued. Mine was pending until 2 weeks ago and changed to issued first, for only a short period of time. I believe I noticed the status had changed to shipped on Thursday or Friday, and it arrived today on Tuesday. Not too bad!

The card didn't disappoint, very nice!

Today there was something in the mail. I knew it was probably my card, so I was curious to open it. This was the cardholder:

Crypto.com logo on it and the small light blue corner is meant to slide the card out.

Love the color and metal. It's quite heavy too!

The card gives 2% cashback (in CRO tokens) and 100% Spotify reimbursement. Spotify I don't use myself, but I'm considering trying this as it will give me 100% reimbursement of $12.95 max per month (as far as I understood). I need to check the terms and conditions first to decide on that though.

Conclusion

I'm happy that I can now start enjoying 2% cashback on my purchases and I will try out the different options (loading FIAT and also crypto) to see how this works best for me.

Do you have a crypto.com card? And what are your experiences? Do you like it? Or do you barely use it?

I have tried to read up on this. What alternatives are there on getting a Visa from Crypto.com?

They also have a free version without any stake. It's a plastic one though.. The CRO stake is only 6 months on the higher tiers, and the price is quite low atm I think. After 6 months you dont have to continue the stake but the cashback percentage will drop a bit and maybe other benefits too (in this case the spotify reimbursement, but higher tiers you would need to check what changes)

Yeah, you remind me to make sure I remember that they do charge interbank fees for different currencies.. which is different from Revolut lol :)

I am thinking to order one for a while but two months seems so much time. I got the Revolut one in days. I'm curious if I can store USDT for example and spend it around or if it's possible to convert crypto to fiat and spend fiat. Haven't yet figured out how it works.

Honestly, I think this is a good moment to do so, simply because now the price of CRO is low. So your wallet will probably grow ;) I also waited until it dropped 50% with the first time I calculated.

I also have Revolut, which I love as I can take money from the ATM for free for a few hundred bucks, but it's often not covering what I want to take out the ATM, so still paying bank fees. This card has another 400 dollar I think (not 100% sure about the amount).

The plus of Revolut is that you are not having any charges for different currency for about 6000 bucks. It happens to me quite often that I accidentally pay with the card while not having local currency on it, and then it doesn't charge insane fees. I reckon that's different using the Crypto.com card. So I will have to be aware of that when paying.

I can't help you yet with the USDT question or any other crypto or fiat. I have to figure it out myself first :)

Ps, on the bright side, waiting for the card a few months isn't that bad because then you may be halfway through your 6 month staking requirement. I checked in the questions in their FAQ and it really seems that there are no extra charges once this is over, or if you decide to unstake. Only the cashback falls back to 1 % and no spotify reimbursement on this card.
