The adoption of cryptocurrency by professional football bodies and clubs is beginning to increase. Some weeks ago, we saw two major leagues club sides (Juventus and Paris St Germain) launching their fans tokens with the tickets JUV and PSG respectively. Currently, these tokens are trading on Binance and on other exchanges and doing very well. It shows us that with time, other clubs will follow the same lead until the adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in the world of football is gone mainstream.

Something very interesting happened few days ago still in the football space. According to news, Spanish Football Club Says it Has Made World-first Crypto Pro Transfer and this is quite amazing. A lot of persons have been hoping to see players and coaches being paid salary via cryptocurrency as well fans even paying for tickets via crypto. Today, it's great to see that all these are happening gradually and will soon erupt the entire football space in good time. When this happens, it will sure give a great boost to cryptocurrency in general.

Who was the football player signed? And which team signed the football player?

The player in question is David Barral who was a former Real Madrid, APOEL and Sporting de Gijón striker. David is also said to have played in the Japanese, UAE and Cypriot professional leagues. So, on January 18, David Barral completed his transfer from Racing Santander to DUX International de Madrid; the Segunda División B side (Spain’s third division) which is also known as Inter Madrid).

More so, the deal is said to have been financed entirely using cryptocurrency although the cryptocurrency asset used was not being disclosed by club. Noteworthy is that, the deal was made possible by Criptan, a valencia-based cryptocurrency firm.

In history, this David Barral's transfer happens to be the second player signing done using cryptocurrency. Cryptonews has it that the first recorded bitcoin (BTC)-powered transfer in football history was the 2018 transfer of Ömer Faruk Kıroğlu, a Turkish footballer whose move to the amateur club Harunustaspor cost the club’s president a mere USD 521 worth of bitcoin. ) has it that the first recorded bitcoin (BTC)-powered transfer in football history was the 2018 transfer of Ömer Faruk Kıroğlu, a Turkish footballer whose move to the amateur club Harunustaspor cost the club’s president a mere USD 521 worth of bitcoin.

This is indeed a great development coming into the football space and we hope it births more adoption of cryptocurrency in the world of football.
