...and suddenly @curangel made my day against new bid-bots generation

After reading yesterday about the creation of another service which in my opinion is not providing any added value but only the same old story of how to get rewarded without deserving to, AKA "reward.app", I have recovered my positive hopes regarding this/our blockchain while discovering that major curation initiatives as @curangel are not going to support any post which uses this kind of new bid-bots generation.

You can read here what "reward.app" is about and also here .

Judge by yourself, but I think there are many ways to fix the current problems, some of them already tested in the past and easy to solve.

For instance:

  • Remove the stupid 5' voting-window penalty and let the people upvote without cuts at any time.
  • Come back to the LINEAR REWARDING CURVE. The current one which benefits to big accounts which writes everything but good posts, usually.
  • Why not implementing an extra prize for discovering good content of newcomers instead?

The two first are VERY EASY to solve, just changing known parameters in the blockchain.

The third, I agree, it will cost more and it has to be better defined, but I mean, we have to improve for sure the USER RETENTION which is scarce because the lack of support for newcomers is very little among other reasons...

I know that HIVE is a game on which getting the most is a must but if we keep doing the same we have done till now but in a different manner, we know what will happen in the long run.

Again, I would like to thank @curangel for not supporting these kind of "new original ideas" . Hope others would follow your steps.

Was there ever a good reason for this? Stake size is just that, the more you have the more curation you get. Why was.. is there a reason for this 30 minute, then 15 and now 5-minute window?

No idea...perhaps was a kind of gamification strategy.

The reason was so that you read first not just vote for curation I guess, of course it failed because still few would read if it's not interesting.

If you could read at your leisure and know that your curation reward would be the same at 4 minutes or 30 then all this rushing to vote within the window would then be obsolete.

There are so many things that could improve, or simply become a reality, and we have this... Again, money money money... circle circle jerking... etc etc etc. Rest is just propaganda...

Come back to the LINEAR REWARDING CURVE. The current one which benefits to big accounts which writes everything but good posts, usually.

The curve stopped most of the low key farming (i.e. the 15SP STINC delegations or obscure comments on year old posts). It didn't help us smaller guys, but you know...

Remove the stupid 5' voting-window penalty and let the people upvote without cuts at any time.

HE tokens don't have this voting window. What happens is many people autovote at first second. Due to a much smaller user base, these are the same people who are getting more curation rewards than average persons.

Meh just my 2 cents anyhow.

You are right, it stopped those tiny accounts which were milking very little in comparison with what other minnows and dolphins have lost in rewards due to the non-linear curve.

As far as I know, the number of those “small accounts” numbered in 5-digits at one point.

HiveWatchers used to keep tabs on these large farms that pretty much swindled hundred thousands of SP in delegations.

These days, I can’t say the same for the above situation.

We have learnt some lessons already. I think now we know what to do with those initial delegations.

Yeah, I hope the system and its witnesses would fine-tune things as the platform evolves.

Right now, it's kinda stagnant, but there should be a hard fork coming up.
