Investing In Cards Or Land On Splinterlands

avatar

Hi Everyone,

2 weeks ago I have reached the first goal of obtaining 200k DEC on Splinterlands and of course this will increase the coming weeks but at the same time, to keep on top of my game and taking advantage on some of the 'cheaper' cards, I thought I start upgrade some of my cards again. A friend of mine who also plays Splinterland asked where I would put my DEC, cards or land? Honestly hard question because both are equally important to me. I need the cards to keep afloat but also know that land is the next big thing for the game and I don't want to miss the opportunity.

I'll be pooling with some friends to see how much land we can all get (at least that is the plan) but that conversation has made me think. I wasn't sure to be honest and as a player since the game started, I don't want to miss out on anything. arrgghhh choices! I have now made a small compromise, I will spend some DEC on cards and keep at least half for land. Sounds easy right? Not sure how that would work but hope my choice is right. May change later on but see how we go.

So this week I got 2 legendary cards which I thought may be useful in the future. From the time I purchased it to now, it has gone up a bit in price which means it is high in demand ie my thoughts on this card is the same with some people and see the usefulness of it. I won't be using it but to hold. I'm a hoarder as many of you may know, maybe this will pay off. My road of accumulating DEC is not fast but comfortable and I just need to remind myself that both land and cards are equally important plus the time I invest in the game, I need a good balance. What are you thoughts? If you are a Splinterlands player, would you spend your DEC on cards or land or both like me?

I haven't bought any new cards of any significant value for around two months, I've been accumulating for LAND!

I think it's an aspect of the game I'll enjoy more than playing, but it's easy for me to say I've already got most of the cards I want to a pretty decent level!

Easy to say when you have that lot of DEC to split the half. 😎
I have to think whether I can afford any "land" when it comes.

It'll be a long time before land is useful in-game. Presale discount is juicy, though; so I'm going in strong on land. Only 30K plots available at full discount. We're estimating half will go as regions pretty much instantly. If there are another 100 people grabbing tracts, that'll only be 5000 single lots at 10K DEC each.
On the plus side, if the first presale sells out in an hour or two, that's huge for marketing. US$225K if sold as 30 regions (highest discount).
Probably closer to US$250K in practice. That's a great soundbite.
"We sold a quarter million dollars worth of land in 4 hours".

I am really hoping its not first come first serve because us Aussie will miss out big time, or even to bots which will be a bit crappy. You have lots of DEC so you don't need to worry more about the timing. I am aiming for that 850k and its going to be hardddddd

Big difference in price for 2 regions, though. 15 million DEC in the first round, 18 million in the second. That's worth setting an alarm for.
There's a petition around, requesting an hour (or 24 perhaps) in which anyone buying land can get it at full discount; with anything over that 30K being taken out of the next allocation. I'm sympathetic to the idea; but trust the devs know what they're doing.
If we sold out in 4 mins and that got some press, and new faces, the DEC price could break the peg on the upside in the next few weeks.
If it hits $1.10/1000 and the game accepts it at that price, then the second presale could be cheaper (in absolute DEC terms) than the first.

And one more choice
Put the DEC in the liquity pool and get 1 land for 0,1% of the pool every 30 dags. Then you keep your DEC (can buy cards later) and get Land.

I am not very confident with uniswap so as a small holder, I probably just stay put .... the fees are not very welcoming lol

Yes. Me and scrooger has a pool Together to split the fee.
We have 0.4-0.6 % of the pool and Will get Some land.
We paid 5USD to put it at Place so yes - with small amount it is not Good. Pool is better Together.

Extremly low interest rate But we do it for land
