I am going to hell for this!

I haven't had much success these days scoring cheap silver in the typical places I am looking in, which mainly is local Facebook groups. It seems like sellers these days just ask too much, at least way more than I'm willing to spend.

But finally today I did manage to score three old silver German Marks coins for a good price.. I don't have them yet in my hands so here is a picture from numista of what I am about to get..

Screenshot_20220809223412456.png

Yep... NAZI silver..probably not the proudest moment of Germany

I do feel a bit weird with these particular coins but hey I got them for a really good price. And in my country we have lots of Nazi lovers (go figure!) so I will try to resell the two for a better price. But I am definitely keeping one for my collection regardless of my feelings.

And in case you wonder, the fat old dude with the mustache is Paul von Hindenburg:

Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg ( 2 October 1847 – 2 August 1934) was a German Field Marshal and statesman who led the Imperial German Army during World War I and later became President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. During his presidency, he played a key role in the Nazi seizure of power in January 1933 when, under pressure from advisers, he appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany. source

Sounds like Mr. Hindenburg did a big oopsie at the end of his career 🤐🤐🤐

Apparently, Nazis took their coins seriously... when it comes to purity, these coins are 0.900 silver, 13.88 g each!

At the end of the day.... Silver is silver regardless of history!

I'm sure you'll sell it at a reasonable price. Germans appreciate such Nazi memories, especially if they are embodied in a piece of silver.

Big time, with even that move for Hitler. It's still a very attractive coin, although it isn't too old, plus the purity level is quite good too. Those epic stories hahaha

Don’t feel weird, it’s a part of history. I have several of them. They are pretty cool.

I actully have a pretty big pile of these from back in the day. They had one of the highest silver quality values of coins which is why I focused on them and not for their history. Hell you could melt it down for the silver!

The amazing thing is that he was born in present day Poland, which was Germany at that time. What a historical coin you are about to collect. It has a nice rarity index as well 7.

it's for fun 😉

Indeed, "silver is silver!" In the end, I think "collecting" more or less bypasses moral and philosophical issues... I have some Cuban stamps in my collection, and they are technically speaking "illegal," but it's not like I am trading with Cuba...

Nice find!

=^..^=

haha yeah, I saw your comment in the mancave. I would say don't feel bad. You didn't get them to use at some kind of nazi shrine in a corner of your house (...right??), you got them for the silver. History is worth knowing, at any rate, good and bad. Maybe the coins will make a good conversation piece so you can explain to some kid about some of the bad things that happened not so long ago. (I mean History class these days is always so overloaded with things, it seems like they skip a lot of modern history, so you never know what kids aren't learning these days)

I would buy and sell this coin with no issue, it's just a coin and silver, lots of folks collect, if I could I would have one of everything single coin in the world

Silver is silver so I wouldn't worry about it. I guess you can just hide it in a box somewhere so people don't get mad about it.

I feel you bro but I don't really believe that this is the worst case, imagine that you inherited a couple of those from your grandfather! That would mean really something😂😂

While crypto bros keep reselling shitcoins to each other true chads are making bank reselling nazi silver.

No wonder we are all broke and Trumpman is a billionaire.

Thanks for keeping the history alive, @trumpman. My Brother-in Law sent me a similar Coin. I didn't know it was Silver.
