This publication was made from the challenge provided by @rutablockchain which is to tell our story about money in our childhood. You can participate here.

Time has passed and from it, we have learned. We need to look back at our steps so that we do not forget where we started and how we started.

Our childhood lives on in the depths of our minds, perhaps the memories are a little cloudy but the truth is that it was the beginning of our journeys through life and in the context that this publication deals with, money.

I remember that my first income was only coins. In those days my grandmother always gave me coins that I suppose were leftover from some change. One day she gives me the most beautiful gift, a red heart-shaped piggy bank and a few drawings around it. From that day on, I started to save and the idea of saving was always established, so that one day what I had gathered with so much effort would be worthwhile and I could buy that which I wanted so much, which because of my age, were nothing more than toys.

In those small years of my childhood, I remember that my father gave me my first dollar. It was just a dollar bill but he told me that at some point it could be worth a fortune. And of course, at that age, one's innocence is sublime so the only thing that crossed my mind was that I would have a lot of money in the distant future. Among other things, I had a wallet full of coins to spend on a vacation trip to the Argentinean coast and it was endless entertainment whether it was in the games of the fichines or buying what caught my eye like the cuddly toys machines which I still keep because I have earned quite a few in my childhood.

I liked to save for a long time and then spend it on things that seemed unique to me. And they were. Many of these things will not be repeated, others will, but you are no longer a child and it is up to someone else who might come along at some point.

My parents always helped me to have my own money and I guess it was a preparation for the years to come. I believe that life prepares us from childhood with the intention of developing in the different situations that may occur over time.

As for my first purchase, I don't remember it exactly. I know I spent money on video game machines and stuffed animals. What I am sure of is that while I was growing up I acquired a PlayStation and I used to spend my income on games of that console, back in 1998.

The income that I obtained was mostly from my grandmother but my parents, although they did not give me so much to keep in the piggy bank, they gave me all the likes. If I liked a toy, they bought it for me, if I loved to eat something, they gave me that taste. In those days there didn't seem to be any money problems. The '90s were something that really made me nostalgic and want to relive it once again. Saving was part of my routine, as it is now I think.

I was always taught how to manage my money, however, I was quite rebellious. I wasn't satisfied with a middle-class product, I always wanted the latest. Today I see what suits me best and offers me the most reasonable within its capabilities whether it is something technological or not. One can opt for a product that is not a top brand and you will be able to find something that has excellent features and is just a few steps away from competing with the best in the market. You learn that by seeing it for yourself and not getting carried away by other people's opinions. It is something I learned through my adolescence. It is never too late.

For my parents, there were things that seemed expensive to them but since they both worked, they bought me what I wanted. Although it was not to have whims and get angry for a no. In that sense, I was quite tolerant. There were times when you could and times when you couldn't, like everything else. It is worth mentioning that these were other times and another type of currency that is not the one we have today. The possibilities were there, I think we could live fully. If they were talking about money, I wouldn't have noticed. I think they were trying to keep me from knowing if the situation was bad and if it was good, it was not my business beyond telling me that we were going on vacation or on a trip. I believe that at that age a child should be drawn into a world of well-being and happiness and on that note, I can say that they complied favorably.

As an anecdote, I also remember having a piggy bank, but this one was totally made of ceramic. Obviously, I didn't manage to break it because in my mind it was to hurt him. My father solved it by making a hole in the bottom so that he could take out what he had collected. In the end, one day my mother started cleaning and if I remember correctly she hit him with her arm and finished breaking it. It was the last time I saved up in a piggy bank but it was worth it.

Right now I see money as something that allows me to develop a better quality of life. Because we need it to have small portions of happiness. When we save for something ,in particular, we do so in the hope that what we are going to buy will contribute to our state of mind. We spend it to go to the movies, to go eat with someone, for things that make us happy but we also have to stress that we use it for essential and necessary things such as paying our debts, bills or something extremely necessary for our existence, eating and drinking.
