Age, health and expenses

In the past few days of being away from a lot of social activities, I've made a couple of deductions about life, age and wellness just by observing how age is casually kicking my parents in the ass and how it all seems so foreign to them.

My dad is over 70 and has never had to watch his sugar intake or listen to advice from anyone about doing any physical activity that is beyond necessary.

After doing a blood sugar test, it almost seems like he has his life flashing before his eyes. I talk to him about being more physically active and I see it in his eyes that he can't believe that this is happening to him.

He knows I'm right. The reality of his situation is quite bitter too as the majority of our health sector is actively migrating leaving behind the bottom of the barrel doctors and health workers.

The price of somewhat quality health care within the country is also absurd as the few private hospitals that manage to pay their doctors fairly well are outrageously expensive.

You could say there's health insurance but health insurance provided by the State Government covers little to nothing when your health condition is off the charts... It's worse when you're much older.

The best option most older people have is the ability to leave the country when their health begins to truly decline. Knowing how expensive it is to seek medical aide in a different country without any insurance, it's scary to imagine.

Haven observed all this and made my decision to stay back in my country for the next couple of years, I decided to do my best to stay healthy. Having a steady work out plan and eating healthy could probably give me a better fighting chance at old age, if I make it there.

I accept that there are a lot of things that can kill a human buy having a healthy life takes out a lot of unforeseen health issues.

So we can't get married again?

I feel sad

To be honest, this is the goal.

I accept that there are a lot of things that can kill a human buy having a healthy life takes out a lot of unforeseen health issues.

I hope you have agreed to stop alcohol?

Your posts nowadays are making me have a rethink on if I should stay in Nigeria or go out

the majority of our health sector is actively migrating leaving behind the bottom of the barrel doctors and health workers.

Not absolutely correct there tho, some good doctors are still in Nigeria and there to stay Sha. Some will return, and most may never do.
Japaing is not to mean we are the best o, abeg.

But mean, personal health is under rated big time, one small malaria and you re 10k down, drugs food and work downtime. .

Everyone just needs to keep watch on their health.

I further stated that the good ones remaining work at some of the most expensive private hospitals.

Let's be honest, even the ones that remain will be so third down with the workload that going to the hospitals will still be risky

Yeah you did..

And yeah the the workload is crazy massive.. which scares many away, some have even found shelter in other professions like tech.
