Surviving emergencies with crypto

I've been away for about 3 days. I skipped posting on Hive for 2 days and just yesterday I managed to take part in one contest and I think it's time to get back to work fully.

Over the past 1 week, I've been going through a pretty tough time with my health. I've had to ditch school for 3 days to take care of myself and I guess now I'll be ready to get back to classes on Monday.

Crypto saved me

A couple of days ago, I needed $70 urgently to sort out some issues with my medication. I'd been saving up my payouts in liquid for about a week coz I anticipated that I would need to spend a bit and calling my parents at the moment isn't an option.

I had accumulated 100Leo, about 18 HBD and over 600 DEC. In naira, that was well above half of what I needed. However, in the process of trying to withdraw my HBD, I forgot, didn't read and converted my HBD to Hive. I had no idea the process took 3 days.

I was back to not having my complete amount. I got thinking for a while and that's when I remembered I had 5.9 SBD I'd been keeping for absolutely no reason.

After putting all the money together, I had 41 Hive and 5 SBD ready for withdrawal. The amount I got was almost $80. I paid off the emergency and had some money leftover to get Pizza afterwards.

Surviving off crypto

I've been surviving off crypto for a while now. I usually tell my close friends that I may not be wealthy, but I know whenever I have a need that needs to be met, I can do so without flinching or emptying my wallets.

My plan for this month has been to avoid spending crypto because last month my expenses were outrageous. However, I'm hoping that after this medical expense has been cleared, I won't be having any more emergencies anymore. But, we can't predict emergencies so I guess I can only just be ready by keeping some liquid here and there, just in case.

Crypto saved me some days ago and it's going to keep saving me as long as I don't back down.

I am sorry you didn't realize that it will take three days to convert HBD to hive.

What you should have done should have been to use the market option under the HBD icon instead of the convert option

The market option takes you directly to the market where you can buy Hive with hbd instantly

I know next time you will know what to do

I hope your health is okay

And yes, with crypto, we all can have access to emergency funds without emptying our wallet
