Cloudy With A Chance Of...

A Cloudy Summer Day In The Desert

I was surprised when I went out this morning to see a cloudy day here in Abu Dhabi. Sixteen years in this country and I've been used to cloudless summer days, or worse, terribly humid days where you don't have to do anything to sweat - just stand outdoors.

Yesterday, there was sandstorm and today, puffy, clouds in the sky! Yey.

Mid day. Looks like it's gonna rain anytime soon!

Oh well, it's not that the surrounding is not hot, but I would definitely take 40°C over 50°C!

Hub works for shorter hours on Saturdays so I have to go out and fetch him at around 1pm. It is not the best time to be outside especially during summer. The car feels like a pre-heated oven and I could barely touch the steering wheel!

The past two weeks, my phone had even overheated and restarted within just a few minutes in the car.

Today is different though. A cloudy day! Wow!

Actually, before I left, I found a few spots of raindrops on the car. I could literally count them on my windshield. LOL.

It seems that the UAE has been taking cloud seeding operations to the next level again. It has already rained hard in several parts of the UAE today (and the other day, if I am not mistaken).

UAE weather alert: Lightning, heavy rains, over several parts

The UAE uses cloud seeding to produce more freshwater, reduce the temperature, and to improve farming conditions among others.

Anyway, more big rain droplets fell as we drove back home. Not the type that would make you soaking wet, but just enough to put ugly specks on the dusty car that was exposed to the sandstorm the day before. 😕

Beautifully speckled car. 😩

Question of the Day:

To wash the car, or not to wash?

Well, I just checked tomorrow's forecast and it seems that there's still a 51% chance of precipitation as there will be early this evening...

So I will perhaps just postpone it to the day after tomorrow. LOL. Whoops, that's a holiday. Long holidays (Eid Al Adha) upcoming from Monday until next Saturday, so maybe I will just wash the car next Saturday. haha.

Anyway, it's a crazy weekend here on this side of the world. Hope you're having a blast wherever you are. Enjoy your weekend!

Sounds good, I have visited UAE thrice but never saw a cloud in Dubai, Qatar, or Doha. Thanks for showing me one. Have a nice weekend and yes, Happy Eid Ul Adha!!!

Yah, summers tend to be cloudless. It's either you see blue skies or when the humidity is high, it seems dreary.

We've just been blessed with a heavier downpour earlier this evening as forecasted. Hopefully another one tomorrow so it may ease the heat we are experiencing.
