Sharon.

His gut is one thing she hated most. How the world is led to believe it is embedded in their DNA to do as they wish is one thing she hopes not to understand.

There was no doubt she hated him. The once fine love-filled hands that carried her gently now became rough and ugly looking. She didn't want them on her and she made sure he knew. She is no hypocrite. She gives people exactly what they give to her. It is like the tale of the nine-tailed fox.

Sharon was just 10 years old when the hatred which locked the doorway to her heart began. Her father who she once loved and cherished was now her sworn enemy.

The enmity began when he discarded one of the most vital promises made to her Mom.

"I will be forever faithful to you and my body and all belongs to you".

But... The words were lies that cut deep into her mother's soul.

She had watched her parent's wedding video numerous times and loved that part the most, but now... She didn't as his infidelity ruined it all.

She couldn't forget the pain that filled her mother's face even after she took her last breath. The memory haunts her and why wouldn't it? She has been the cause of her family's downfall from the moment she became her father's doorway to financial stability.

Everyone knew her in school because she is super intelligent. Her emotional IQ was indescribable and this made her get to meet the President of her country who met her parents and upgraded their financial status for having such an amazing daughter.

In a flash, they climbed the zero-dollar ladder to a million dollars in two months and... That was when the change began.

Her father became a changed man. He never stays home and when he does, he always has some cruel words ready to lash her Mum.

"Have you seen the young girls out now? They are strong and know how to satisfy a man".

She'd hear him say sometimes while other times the insult goes to her mother's emotional part.

It was insane that it made her cry. She had confronted him numerous times but he never listened. Instead, he pushes her away, and this made her wonder if something had taken hold of him as she didn't recognize him anymore.

Her thoughts of a happy family went down the drain as her heart became hard as a rock toward men. She distorts their presence and this turns her life upside down.

She had lived with her enmity toward men for 20 more years and now at 30, things took a turn for her.

Some months back, an irresistible man waltzed into her life before she could comprehend. She didn't know how things happened so fast, only that...

It was meant to be a one-night stand.

But something more happened. It was like he was stalking her as he was always present at any party she finds herself in and they always happen to bump into each other. What an incredible way fate decided to torment her. But...

She made sure he always regretted their meetings but that didn't stop him. It was like every insult she hoards at him never gets to his ears. She had ridiculed him whenever the chance presented itself but all he ever did was smile and take it all in.

So, she decided to date him. It would be fun to watch him bleed inside out and live in misery for crossing her lane. She didn't care if he ended up getting admitted to a psychiatric home or choked to death. It was none of her concern.

But now, she couldn't take a step forward into ruining him as she planned.

He was different from the other guys she has ever met. The way he looks at her reminded her of how her mother stared at her father when they were loving the zero-dollar lifestyle.

His look depicts respect for her. And that confused her.

"Why do his eyes always shine like the star whenever he sees her? Or how chatty his voice is like a kid who can't get enough of his mother's love?"

Those questions and more always fill her mind when she is close or far away from him and she hasn't gotten an answer for that.

Maybe, she had but she is just a coward to speak it out. She had felt the feeling before and her heart wanted to feel it badly again.

Staring at the figure beside her, her lips curled up into a smile as she snuggled closer to him. Maybe it won't hurt so much to give love and trust a chance again.

Oh no, I'm glad she finally opened her heart to give love a chance again.

Many people have shut so many genuine people out because of bad experiences, I pray we all find the kind of love we deserve.

I am glad she did too and hope for the best in a newfound love life.

Yes, sometimes we shut people out. Thanks for your response.

Most men, oh no, most humans when they have a lot of money will change. Usually more arrogant and especially men will seek pleasure outside with other women. But thankfully Sharon forgave her father and gave one more chance.

Yes, they will. That's it is said that don't listen to the words of a poor man to a rich man pompousness as they may turn worse too if they have money.

Thankfully, she did.

Children easily stick memories from their childhood which helps to sharpen the future. Whenever parents have issues to sort out, it's safe to not involve the children or expose them to such. Glad she gave love a chance eventually.

Thank you for the good script

That's the part I was hoping to see. I'm glad Sharon decided to give her father a chance again. I wish people didn't change when they met a certain amount of wealth but alas, that's the world we find ourselves. Beautiful story dearest Balikis.🌺

It is a wish we all have, but circumstances change us either to be better or worse.
Thanks, babe. I appreciate your feedback.

You bring us a bitter-sweet tale of a father's betrayal that clouds his daughter's perceptions about men as she grows up, resulting in her closing off her heart to avoid being hurt. It is incredibly sad how negative experiences from our childhood can have such a lasting impact. I enjoyed your story but would urge you to try to avoid switching between tenses all the time. It will improve your flow a lot. You also bring us some decent narration but I would have loved to have seen more of the story brought to life through dialogue between her and her father and her and her new beau.

Switching tenses and dialogue. Note taken.

Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.
