The Dark Queen.

There is some sort of darkness growing in me, not like i am turning into an evil monster or anything, it’s just that i have been cursed with the gift of shadows and now the only person that is capable of keeping me sane happens to be a friend to my boyfriend.

What sort of insane triangle is this turning out to be i think to myself, how do i explain to my very believing boyfriend with a pure element from a pure bloodline why i have to be with someone else almost every five minutes without having to reveal what crawls underneath my skin.

If only my sister wasn’t attacked that night, if only there had been someonle else to help us, maybe just maybe the sleeping shadow would have lied, i would not have been triggered and just remained mundane. And now its out, it does not seem to want to lay back down. The raging monster is awake. At least that’s what people would think when they learn of my…my whatever this is, a gift or a curse.

The night of the party…

Oh no, this should not be happening here, i breath and look around for something to calm me, i spot a glass of tequilla on the table and hurriedly move towards it, finishing it in one gulp but still i can’t seem to rationalize my breathing and calm down. Aaron turns and at that moment spots me. Oh god, oh god..i scream in my head, not wanting him to see me like this. “Hey” he says to me “whats wrong love?” I smile and try to act normal “nothing’s wrong hun, i’m good, must be the alcohol.” “Hmm” before he could say another word, we hear the sound of metal spoon on glass signaling the time for toast.

My discomfort only continues to grow and i pull away from Aaron telling him i was going to use the convience, just two steps away i stumble into Kaz and suddenly my whole body calms, the tremblings seize instantly. Slowly i raise my head and look into his eyes and i think he knows what just happend cause he gave me his infamous side smirk, i stay starring for what feels like hours but actually was just a few seconds before i rush out of the hall and towards the ladies room, hoping to god that Aaron did not notice my stumble.

I wash my face with water and look in the mirror wondering what might have just happend when the door to the stall opens and closes with a lock. I turn around and Kaz is starring at me intently like his just seeing me for the first time and i feel a pull towards him. Before i know what is happening we are kissing, all tounges and teeth, who kissed who first i do not even know and finally when my brain starts to function again i quickly pull away breathing like i just ran a thousand miles. He just says to me “I hope you know, you are mine.” And he leaves me more confused than ever.

I come out of the ladies and head back to the hall with a more calmer demeanor but a chaotic insides, i spot Aaron and he smiles and waves me over, i feel so guilty and i know i have to tell him, i hope he understands.

The night comes to an end and we all head to our rooms, we’ve been in the stronghold for about 25 weeks now and counting while the outsides are ravaged by the most powerful demons. There has been countless war meetings with battle strategies but still the war between the demons and us still rages.

I promise myself to tell Aaron soon but just another day and tonight we just be the way we have always been. I listen to his heartbeat till it gives a steady rythm and when i think sleep would take me too, the shadows return making me restless and driving any hope of sleep away, i slowly crawl out of Aaron’s arms and out of the room with the intent of finding Kaz and calming the storm, i meet him halfway as if he had been coming to find me too, like he had been restless because of me. I run into his arms like we had been lovers a long time and his lips find mine when suddenly i hear a voice i recognize “Len what the hell”. Its Aaron and i did not even get my chance to explain yet. There is pain in his eyes “A, let me explain” i begin to say choked up with tears but he just turns away saying “There’s no need for that now”.

He avoids me totally and the only time i get to see him is in the battle strategy room. Rumors of the prophecy has already started making rounds about a shadow queen who would subdue the demons and free us all with the light bringer by her side.

I was going through the whole prohecy in my head when i saw Kaz playing with Jared’s kids, he was glowing like he had trapped the sun in his body and that’s when it all started to make sense, the final piece of my puzzle. He could calm me because he is my opposite, my balance. And just then i knew what i had to do to end all this.

So i match out of the manor and into the night that has claimed all of Athrens with Kaz by my side, when all the demons and dark princes come raging. I begin to speak with a voice velvelty soft. “I am the shadow, i am the darkness and i am night”. *my skin starts going dark as if being swallowed by the dark shadows, darker than the night and with that i finish my chanting. “You will bow before me for i am the queen of shadows.” With just that sentence all the demons bow and fall to their knees and i banish them back to the depths of the underworld. I see a light coming towards me and i know it’s Kaz. I smile knowing that the people of Athrens would walk in the sun again with peace and freedom.

Kaz is the light to my shadows and together we will see how it goes.
