Here is my Entry for the Week 6 of TheInkWell Fiction Challenge Summer 2020.

The Quiz Bee

In a secluded town of Tuod there was a simple family living and it was the Socorro family. The couple's names are John and Merlyn and they have a son, Johnny. Johnny is 12 years old, kind, loving, hardworking, smart but a little shy.

Because of Johnny's increased intelligence, in all the competitions at various schools, he is one of the always chosen participants of their school even though he thinks there are many who are better than him. Before choosing the contestants to compete in another school, the school itself conducted the test for those smart in their class, more than 30 taking the test and eventually one of them being selected was Johnny because of the higher scores he got. The competition will take place within two weeks.

Johnny studied almost every day to win the competition. One day while Johnny was at home studying, his friend Jessica arrived. Jessica is also a participant in the upcoming competition and his teammate. When Jessica arrived, Johhny suddenly looked surprised as he could not believe Jessica is coming then at the same time saying "Oh Jess, what are you doing here?" as if he is shy and nervous because Johnny has a secret love feelings with a friend. Jessica replied, "Ahh John, I'm just here to ask you for the upcoming competition", Johnny replied "Ahh, of course, no problem" while smiling looking at Jessica.

While they were studying, Johnny glared at Jessica at the same time saying in his mind that "You're really cute and pretty .. Hehehe" until Jessica noticed it and suddenly she said "Hoi! What are you looking at?" Johnny was surprised and startled at the same time saying "Ah! no Jess, there is as much mosquito here. Heheheh". Johnny was quiet and they continued to study.

Two weeks later, these are Johnny's and Jessica's most anticipated day as it's competition day. More than 15 different schools in their city attended and one of them is their school, only 3 participated while in other schools 4 or 5 were participating. The competition can be at least 3 and not more than 5 participants per group. So when Johnny saw the participants at another school he was starting to get nervous and he saw that they were the only group who have 3 participants in the competition. But while Johnny was nervous for the competition, Jessica came up to him and said, "So here's John, we studied at the same time and I know we're going to win this." So when Johnny heard Jessica says, he slowly calmed down and once said to Jessica "Thanks Jess for encouraging and I know we will win this".

The competition started and they entered the Quiz Bee Competition and it was about Science, History and Mathematics.

It all started with 15 groups and the first 10 answered correctly were entered in the next round. The first question was that Johnny had already answered correctly and they were on their way to the next round.

As they waited for the next round Johnny approached Jessica and asked "Are you okay? Did you know I forgot earlier?" Jessica replied "What did you forget? Maybe that is important?", Johnny's reply was "Ahh yes Jess that's important" Jessica asks "Ahmn! What is it?", Johnny replied, "We forgot to pray, wasn't that important." "Ahh, yeah yeah! That's the most important thing" Jessica replied. So, Johnny called their teachers and another teammate in the competition and told them to pray to God and ask him for guidance, and they all prayed fervently to God.

The competition continued with only 10 teams remaining and it was already at the Moderate Level and it was a bit difficult for the competition and only 5 teams to enter for the Difficult Level and Championship Round.

In the first question, Johnny and his group answered correctly but they were late for a few seconds. On the second question, they made a mistake and they're so scared and nervous that they might not get into the next round. On the third question, they were thankful and they were the first and got the right answer, then they were relieved and replaced with joy.

And now the final round has arrived and for the Championship. It was really fun for all the teams that got into the final round and saw each other without losing. Jessica approaches Johnny and says "We can do this, let's just trust God". Johnny looked up and smiled and said "Thanks, we can do it with God's help" and they all hugged together.

For the final round, the first to score 5 points will be the winning Champion for the competition.

As the competition began, Johnny's heart beats faster because of the nervous he feels but Jessica held him and said "Let's do it" and he calmed down and felt good.

For the first and second questions, Johnny and his group were late but with 3 to 5 questions, they went on to answer them all so they had 3 points while the others had one and the others Nothing. But in the next few questions, the other three teams got 3 points and the other teams were eliminated from the competition and only 3 teams left.

So all the teachers and classmates in the Top 3 are so excited and the competition is getting better.

For the last three groups, the first group who gets 2 points will be the winner. Now every team will be more excited and competitive.

For the first 3 questions, both teams answered and got one point and hence Johnny and the rest of the group got more involved so for the last question it was the most difficult of all but Johnny's team was late so they seemed to be losing hope and sadness was on their faces.

However, after a while, the Quiz Bee Master said " the first group got the wrong answer " so the next one and Johnny's group who next responded an answer will be accepted, and after a while, the Quiz Master declared that their answer was correct and they've won the competition. So all their classmates, teachers and families were thrilled and happy with the win because it was another honour they had brought for their school.

So while Johnny and Jessica were accepting their Awards and Medals, Johnny told Jessica " Thank you for everything and for helping me in this competition " and Jessica replied " Thank you also, and most importantly to God, because if without Him we cannot do and win this competition. "

They thank God and to all who have supported them and their families.
