The Ink Well Joins the OCD Communities Incubation Programme
The Ink Well has been accepted into the OCD Communities Incubation Programme which is about empowering niche communities with curation, rewards and delegation.
This is exciting news and will enable The Ink Well to go ahead with its plan to become a go-to destination on the internet for stunning poetry and short stories. Peakd.com now offers the opportunity for readers to tip writers in a variety of currencies: writers in The Ink Well will be able to build a long-term alternative income over time.
The Ink Well has had (and continues to have) great support from @curie and the community has used this to support promising writers as they develop their skills. New support from @ocd means The Ink Well will also be able to reward skilled writers producing excellent stories.
The Ink Well has already put forward its first writers to receive upvotes from @ocd. Each of these, in their different ways, represents the quality we are looking for to grow The Ink Well. Check them for yourselves:
Carson's Murder by @lacrucita
A Preacher, a Killer and Some Cats and Dogs Went into an Alley by @deeanndmathews
Enemy Within by @dotnb
Prelude to an End by @iamraincrystal
Out with New and In with the Old by @verbalshadow
The Ink Well curating account (@theinkwell) will also receive a delegation from @ocd to increase its voting power, and The Ink Well curation team will receive support from @ocd to give them more time to support writers. These benefits all help to create a sustainable business model for The Ink Well.
Watch out for The Ink Well Newsletter later this week with news about plans for the Autumn and the launch of the August Holiday Fiction Challenge next week with 100 Hive worth of prizes!

- Have a chance to be a Show Case Post in future weeks.
Entries that meet the criteria will also be curated for a curie and an OCD vote.
How To Enter The Challenge

Moses, Citizen and Me by Delia Jarrett-Macauley
This week's prompt came from Moses, Citizen and Me by Delia Jarrett-Macauley
When Julia flies in to war-scarred Sierra Leone from London, she is apprehensive about seeing her Uncle Moses for the first time in twenty years. But nothing could have prepared her for her encounter with her eight-year-old cousin, Citizen, a former child soldier, and for the shocking truth of what he has done. Driven by a desire to understand Citizen, Julia takes the disturbed child into the 'bush'. There they meet other child soldiers, and a story-teller, Bemba G., who provides a safe haven for them all and strives to return them to childhood through play, love, story-telling and performance. As Julia gradually rediscovers Africa, the different generations of her family rediscover their bonds. And then Bemba G. directs the child soldiers in a version of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, with powerful effect. (Granta Books)
