Poetry About The Epidemic Virus | I Have Heard God Crying

I have heard God crying
Another epidemic roams
Lights of the earth are diming
For silence now plays as songs

Fever and cold are the symptoms
Faces and hands are now enemies
Markets are forsaken like awful goods
And even the divine are on their knees

Pushing the sun under the earth
Oh alas! I have heard God crying
Wondering if it is time to rebirth
And speak the word to end suffering

It's name is beautiful, but
It's character is so very ugly
Turning the whole world private
As to everywhere it spreads rapidly

Poured forth from the red
Enduring in the weaker lungs
Pushing to the deep seabed
Sacred things are now wrongs

A perch for the bringer of death
A gold reminder of the elder time
When forever was upon a breath
And simple things we wanted to mime

Weary words fill the air bitter as lime
As birds ascend and refuse to come down
Watching the fluttering of men in their prime
I think they hear God crying too, without sound

I like this a lot. Well done.

The virus is a reminder that time can be brutal and time can be much shorter than we expect with people we care about. Hopefully the epidemic passes soon, but we hold the importance of making the most of our fleeting existance going forward.
