What % of your Steem Power is now Hive Power?

avatar

Hive has been alive since 3pm UTC on the 20th March 2020, some Power Up data and a question for you.

ask_the_hive.jpg

Before I go any further, I'm sure there would be more SP moving to HP were it not for the theft of 23+ million powered up STEEM by a group of Steem witnesses. Hopefully this is resolved at some point; good luck to the accounts involved.

For the rest of us making the move, I wondered how much (as a rough %) of your Steem Power you have moved (will move in total) over to Hive Power.

Since the 20th March, 3279 accounts have powered up at least 15 HIVE. Below is a list of accounts who have 'transferred_to_vesting' the most HIVE from this date.

The list stops at 62 names, because at number 62, me!

I would say that so far, roughly 75% of my SP is now Hive Power. This will likely increase next week as my final 'big' power down completes.

There is some on the exchange in BTC (and BAT and ADA), and I did cash out some to cover my new bike - I hope that is not all I get for 3 years on Steem!

New to Hive?

Since the 20th March, 456 new accounts have powered up at least 15 HIVE. Here are some of the largest new investors:

Alright so, what % of your SP is now HP? And if you diversified, did you buy a blue bike like me, or go for some DOGE?

Cheers

Most of my Steem has gone and most of it was used to buy Hive. Next power down in a few minutes and then just one more big one. I will have to decide what to do with the few hundred Steem I have left after all that. Overall I will have gone from about 27k to 45k HP. I may get to orca this year.

Nice, Orca would be a solid achievement! I hope to get to 10k HP by the end of the year. Need to get cracking on the posts and curation in order to achieve that lol

It would take me a lot longer if I were not selling Steem to buy Hive. I can give out better votes now.

Oh for sure, I powered up 3k HP that I otherwise wouldn't have had in such a short timeframe. I don't generate post payouts that Taraz and Taskmaster are doing lol would be nice but that also requires a lot more time to post..

Hahah no, my job ensures that I don’t have the time to do that. I’ve been waiting since August last year for shit to calm down and it hasn’t.... thankful for having a solid job but sometimes I need a break to do things I like such as posting and researching something to post lol

Yeah, Fiat is the priority for now. Hopefully you'll get a bit more time to research/post at some point. I'm bad, at home all day and still can't find something to post sometimes.

I’m at home but working, thankfully. We might actually be permanently at home now which will be fantastic for me since I have a long commute to the office.

I’ve been meaning to research privacy crypto like Monero but it’s been a couple weeks since I started looking into it lol I still haven’t written the first sentence hehe

Yeah I'm hoping that I'm able to work at home a few days a week in the future, even thought my commute isn't so bad.

I’ve not kept track of the percent. I have one power down left. I’ve exchanged the bulk of mine into Hive over time. The remainder was spent on blockchain games or is being held with future plans to cover cost of playing blockchain games and a little bit for game development.

Have you seen the new one with the pigs?

I glanced over the post. Nothing in-depth as it was not one I was aware of being in development. So much is going on these days.

If you do play it a bit I hope you make a post. I’m quite behind on stuff I need to get around to.

I noticed on their feed they posted around a year ago, but this was the first since.

When I was buying the Pigs earlier, there were various options to pay including DAI. Will keep a lookout...

I wish game developers were a little more active in rolling out updates on progress. That is at least more than some who have still not made a single post about the projects they are working on.

Find out who is behind the project? Perhaps they been talking about it on their personal blog?

I got a reply from knircky on the post earlier but think he could be funding and not developing.

Mine was diversified to Hive-engine tokens, specifically LEO. However, I still have three more laps of SP powerdown to push into HIVE.

I sold most of my steem to buy new laptop and powered down almost all my HP (only about 10% left), so I can sell during next pump.

I don't plan on leaving Hive (currently working on 2 Hive projects), but I don't want to miss out on next big pump (like I did in 2017/18). I'm interested in hive more as a developer than investor.

3 months for power downs are too long for me, I would prefer 2 or even 1 month power down period.

One month has helped on Steem, and I don't think it's inconceivable that it wont happen on Hive.

Don't know about the exact %.
All I know is that I have about 20K more HP than I had SP.
And with 2 last (Steem) PD's to go, I still have "in store" (and with current Hive price) to buy me another 40K if I choose so. (a bit like Boomy I guess, awaiting the "right" moment)

Had it not been for the freakin covid I would have definitely moved all my Steem over to Hive. I reckon it's half and half now as my SP was just over 20k and now my HP is 33k. Still got my last lot of power down worth 2.5k next week, that will all be coming over to Hive to celebrate the end of an era.

That's awesome! Congrats on such a big jump. Splinterlands has really been incredible for this economy here on Hive and formerly Steem. Games like that are what will take this place into the mainstream in my opinion. We just have to make sure the blockchain behind it can handle and make peoples lives easier in order to bring all of those people onboard here.

Very similar myself. I think I've done about 75% of all SP into HP since the fork.

2 more power downs to go and then I'm free!

Hello dear friend @ abh12345 Good afternoon
Excellent the data that you give us to know.
It is incredible the amount of accounts and hive that went on, the most striking thing is how many investments, there is a lot of money there.

Unfortunately I have not been able to light anything, I come from several months of inactivity due to an illness and I had the need for money, so my HP account has grown, thanks to the support of many people.

Again excellent the information provided
I wish you an excellent weekend

sorry to hear you haven't been well and I guess the inactivity has meant you didn't catch as much airdropped HIVE as you could have.

Hopefully you are feeling better and can start to accumulate now.

Have a great weekend too!

Bringing about half to Hive and the other half to BTC to hedge my bets. I think I will leave around 500 Steem on Steem and delegate to some crap upvoting bot. I hate bots in general but on Steem it seems that these days if you can't beat them join them.
Anyone know of a good/ bad upvote bot to use?

Sounds sensible to me.

I think I will leave around 500 Steem on Steem and delegate to some crap upvoting bot

Could be a plan, I was thinking of leaving a little there for bot/curation but will see how it looks over the coming weeks.

In answer to your question, I'm not sure of any automated service that votes for you - I think only the coders are voting automatically at present, but I could be wrong.

I don't think there is any rush as time will tell if the gamble pays off. I don't expect what I was getting a while ago to happen as 1 Steem for 1.4 Hive, but at least 1/1 would help. It makes a huge difference getting this timing right though as the risk Hive suddenly shoots up again.

0

Yeah 1:1 seems reasonable. To be honest I expected STEEM to take a dump these past few months, I guess Sun has been buying like mad to prop the price up. Cheers!

I think most power downs are done or will be done over the next week. Bit surprised at how little has been staked by the majority as I am already ranked in the 600's and a jump of around 400 from Steem rankings before the power down..

I confirm that I too, from my small account compared to yours, have started the Power Down from Steemit for a few weeks, but I have not done any Power Up on Hive, the reason is simple, I am investing everything in a little game that I think you know, is called Splinterlands...🤣🤣🤣

I was doing a 2000 SP power down prior to the 4 week power down cycle HF at steem. When I saw that and the results of it, I decided that things were not going to change on Steem, I did hold out some hope up to that point. So I have done a full power down and I think two more weeks to be complete. I did use a very small portion of it to get some of the ionsx, about 50 steem I think, (not sure I'd have to check and add), but other than that, all of it has gone into Hive. I wanted to make it to Dolphin 5000 HP by the end of June, and made it on Wednesday this week.

I wish I could have gotten those almost one for one rates or better on the Hive side, but I am happy to be able to convert what I have converted so far and did not worry about or hunt for the best price.

I will miss Steem, it was fun for the most part, now the fun continues over here on Hive, and most of the people also for that matter.

5k reached! Nice one :)

Always tough to time it perfect, and I think in the long run it'll even out for those who stay around.

Hopefully when the dust/powerdowns settle, we can get on like not much happened and be in the right place for a crypto run.

It would be nice, but even with out a run, I am still having more fun here than what was happening in Feb and March on steemit. Maybe we are at the bottom of a 2016 range that steemit went through, and are getting ready for an engine test.

I'd say 30-40% of mine was powered up, the rest was spent on dcity and slinterlands.

I just finished my last powerdown today so I'm all done, only $3 left on my steem account which I'll take out next month once it's finished powering down. (had to do a new power down cause that lot was stuff I got after starting the first)

I'm quite happy with the amount of hive I have powered up so I'm unlikely to power up anymore(unless I suddenly have tons of money), i'll just let rewards slowly trickle in to increase it and convert HBD to liquid hive to spend on either dcity or save up for a pump to withdraw and buy something.

I really should be diversifying but i'm just lazy or keep spending my hive.

well over 15% of my SP was transfered into HP but in total I'd say about 50% was powered down at this point

ATM, 50% of SP is HP. I will probably do the same with other 50% but I want to buy a graphics tablet with it so a small percentage of thst HP will buy that :)

2.5 years on Steem for a graphics tablet xD #sad #okey haha

The list stops at 62 names, because at number 62, me!

I knew this was about you.

Why did you add a 4th digit if it is always 0?

I have a lot sitting on the exchange as others mentioned and perhaps in one of those 'new' accounts, or just in another old one that is flying under the radar :)

I had to end the list somewhere!

Easier to leave the 0000's in than worry about formatting what is held in the table.

A new secret account huh, why not just raise your main accounts profile?

Lucky you to be on the list. I joined Hive precisely on the month of March. What a nice place to start for me. These statistics of power up are... Oh my.. Mindblowing lol

A little luck yes, but I would say a fair amount of graft these last few years.

Your timing is good, coupled with the engaging start I think you'll do fine :)

Good to see people are opting for the more decentralised hardfork of steem.
I had a steem account which I made back in 2017. I used to post occassionally, though not that active. I started powering it down last week, after I started this account. :)
I wanted to start afresh, thats why I made a new account.

p.s. Its not a significant amount, (around 550 steem only as I couldnt afford to buy more that time) so I feel it may never come on any lists :)

Yeah I agree, there was only one option once Hive appeared.

550 is Minnow status, not a bad starting point :)

Probably looking at about 1/3 moved over which were STEEM earnings so about 10k, the rest I have moved to BTC for that 1 BTC goal which should hopefully hit in a couple of months then targeting Orca! Still have 6k Steem or so left to shift out 😃

Decent!

I probably should have kept some back in BTC, but most of the HIVE I've acquired at lower than today's price.

50k is nice, I'm hoping for 100k 2021 :D

Yeah I missed the 7p Hive days early on but didn't really know what was going on with anything to be honest haha!

I just wanted to recoup the Steem costs but actually made a good profit on that considering I bought in around 1500-1800 sats with it somehow miraculously being propped up still now!

100k sounds amazing! Different centurion challenge there!

Nice :)

I think I powered up 30k from last October - Feb, seems to have luckily turned out nice!

100k... 3 years ago I was looking at that total thinking if I can get there then I can retire. Add a 0 on and perhaps :D

Same here! Little did we know what would unfold a few months later!

100k... 3 years ago I was looking at that total thinking if I can get there then I can retire. Add a 0 on and perhaps :D

I was working out how much HP I'd need to be on earning passively from leasing to have the same as national average salary and have crunched some numbers:

  • Currently I lease/delegate around 35k HP which gets me about 10 HP per day = £2 at 20p per HIVE.

  • Average UK Salary = £30,350 Source - broken down daily = £93.38 after tax with tax code 1250L Source

image.png

  • So for me, I'd need a 46.69x increase in daily payouts from delegation and leasing = 1.63 Million HP needed at today's rate giving 466.9 HIVE per day...

Conclusion... I won't be retiring any time soon 😃

haha :)

Nice number crunching even though the result is a little saddening.

It's 1.63 million HP, or we could hope the token price motors :) If Hive 10x's, then you would need 163k HP? That sounds possible?

Yeah I was little saddened with that too haha! Especially when I think I'm only 2.2% there 😆

But yeah, that's at today's price so if HIVE manages to 10x (and there's no reason why it shouldn't considering all the development going on) then you'll only need 2x your stack and me 4x which sounds a lot less daunting!

I think HIVE going 10x is more likely than me going 46.69x in any case 😂

Haha! Well I wouldn't say no to that too!

£0.20 * 46.69 = £9.34 per HIVE... dare to dream? 😃

it would be about 25% up on the Steem ATH, so not out of the realms of possibility by any measure. I thinki that for most though, Hive will be a nice little additional revenue stream to help out or buy something little from time to time. If you were able to get 25% of the average salary a year through curation, would you be upset?

0

Yeah for sure it's a nice additional income stream but I know there's a few that have fed their families using income generated from HIVE - for example the Venezuelan community I think?

For me, it's probably going to be helping with buying music related things or maybe even contribute towards a holiday, who knows! Right now, I'm just accumulating what I can and powering it all up for the future, have done since I joined.

I definitely wouldn't be upset with 25% of my salary per year for curating content or at least delegating to accounts that have better skills than I do like curangel, curie, ocdb etc 😃

Quite a few have benefited heavily from it, but I live in the Nordics - so it has a fair way to go before it makes a dent :)

For me, it's probably going to be helping with buying music related things or maybe even contribute towards a holiday, who knows!

Wouldn't it be cool to buy tools of your trade with HIVE earned doing what you do?

delegating to accounts that have better skills than I do like curangel, curie, ocdb etc

I think as prices increase this could be more useful for most accounts. For now, I am happy curating and rewarding the comments that I get myself.

Haha, yeah Nordics is even more expensive than the UK which I didn't think was possible 😃

Wouldn't it be cool to buy tools of your trade with HIVE earned doing what you do?

The first aim of mine with this journey was always to be able to get the music essentials to pay for itself and can definitely start to see this vision materialise after 2.25 years - it's literally the coolest thing ever.

So grateful for the support and opportunity that HIVE has given, it makes you want to give back in whatever way you can hence the yourtop3 contest I co-run and delegating out to various curation guilds.

For now, I am happy curating and rewarding the comments that I get myself.

Keep doing what you're happy with, that's the thing I've learned around here!
