RE: What Was Your First Computer?

I was given an 8088 and a 286 in the late 80s when my neighbour who worked for IBM upgraded and bought a 486 and gave a 386 to his son. I don't know why they held back on giving me the 8088 until then, but I used that for school and the other for fun. My dad had a C64 and I believe something even more ghetto. A few of my richer neighbours had apple 1 and 386/486.

One of my friends who got a computer before I did got a Vic 20. Another had a Spectrum ZX-81. A cousin of mine also had a Spectrum ZX-81. No one I knew had a Spectrum ZX-80, which was the more primitive early model. It only had 1 kb of RAM, which wasn't much to say the least!

wow, some of those are hobbist pcs.

Anything you had to hook up to your tv is rightly ghetto.

Some of these machines are probably worth money if they look alright and still work.

I like watching a youtuber called 8-bit guy who knows a lot about the older stuff.
