Does Your Country Have An Official Contact Tracing App? If Yes, How Does It Work? Are You Going To Use It?

Finland's official contact tracing app was released today. It's works by assigning the user's phone a unique pseudonymous code. The app shares its code with all other instances of the app via Bluetooth if it comes into contact with another phone with the app installed. No location data are stored. Only the time, date and duration of the contact are saved. The app retains all data for 21 days.

When a user is diagnosed, he/she receives a key from a healthcare practitioner allowing him/her to report all his/her contact data of the previous 21 days to a server. The app notifies the user if their ID is among those recently exposed. Using it is anonymous and voluntary.

I just downloaded and installed it. If you have an iPhone, I suggest you follow the link on the website. I couldn't find the app by searching it on App Store. But the link worked.
