The Drivers Of Which Car Make Tend To Have The Greatest Proportion Douchebags Among Them In Your Opinion?

The other day I was driving through this intersection from another direction (coming from where the bus is on the right). A young man driving a BMW ran a red light coming from my then-opposite direction, doing what looked like 80 km/h. I was preparing to turn left when he sped through the intersection. I would probably have noticed him but it's possible I wouldn't have. What a fucking asshole!

I do not wish to brand all or even the majority of BMW drivers as douche bags. But in my observation, BMW is driven by reckless drivers at the highest frequency of all car makes. Other luxury makes tend to be owned by fewer such drivers despite often having engines just as powerful. Mercedes Benzes are seldom driven by reckless idiots. They tend to be owned by older men. I have seldom heard of owners of Teslas having done stupid things in traffic despite the super car level acceleration Teslas are capable of.

I have no stats but Volvo has an image of being driven by responsible drivers. I guess it comes down to marketing and product differentiation. The actual performance of cars may be a very different thing. A plug-in hybrid such as a model from the Lexus NX or the Lexus RX series, popular among soccer moms could actually leave a pure combustion engine BMW in the dust in acceleration.

I'm sure that proportionally, one will be able to find loads of morons across all car brands, from the lowliest of Toyotas, all the way up to Ferraris. I will concur that BMWs, Audis, and Mercs tend to carry the most doucebags in my experience. Tesla folk aren't arseholes on the streets, but they can get pretty arsehole-y on social media. Volvos however, so far as I can see, are usually driven by well-mannered ladies and gentlemen XD

I think morons tend to be over-represented among BMWs drivers. Mercs not so much. Audis, yes, to a degree.

Haha, quite true! Mercs are a lower proportion, mostly among the younger crowd. I'm starting to think that Audi drivers are the new BMW drivers 😅

Mercs tend to be driven by older gentlemen. They're not cocky but among them there are guys who treat their cars as if they were some kind of holy totem animals. Touch their cars once while getting into yours next them in a parking lot and you'll get an angry look if they're present.

Ah, I can certainly attest to that. I'm always cautious to park next to expensive cars, especially if they're carrying the three-pointed star. If I but just barely brush against their wing-mirrors with my shirt, I'm immediately scared for dear life that I'll be sued into bankruptcy!

The hood star emblem used to be called the crosshairs here. In some old models it the hood was long and the star was high enough to be clearly in the field of vision of the driver.

Ah, that's pretty interesting; I didn't know that. The older models are certainly more boxy, and raised in the front. In the newer models, I think one could scarcely see the top of the star from inside.

Well, most MB's I've seen to have broken indicators though. I agree about the BMW drivers, but I'd expand that to almost all SUV's too, especially Skodas.

You mean broken indicators as in them not being used? As to the rest of your comment, interesting. I agree that there are other differences in the driving behavior of different makes. But I think a certain subset of BMW drivers really takes the cake.
