Ask the Hive: which frontend do you use on Hive and why?

avatar

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Welcome to my ATH (Ask the Hive) series that I created to increase the engagement level on Hive (or at least among my followers).

The question that I have prepared for you this time is:

Which frontend do you use on Hive and why?

hivenovy.png

Last week, I happened to have some problems with the internet - my browsers were refusing to upload certain web sites including Hive.Blog, which is actually my favorite frontend for interacting with our blockchain. After several unsuccessful attempts, I tried PeakD but it was not working either. I almost gave up on my Hivean routine that day but then I remembered there is also Ecency. It was my very first time using Ecency but to my surprise, it actually worked so I could do what I needed.

The new experience also inspired me to come up with this ATH round and ask you guys what frontends you use to do your Hive stuff. I am expecting PeakD to be the most popular frontend as I know most of my friends here use it as their prime frontend and it´s also known to have some cool features that Hive.Blog doesn´t offer but let´s hear the actual vox populi on this :)

By the way if you don´t feel like justifying your choice, feel free to just write down the name of the given frontend, it will do fine for the statistical purposes ;)

As usually, I will try to upvote all relevant comments (probably tomorrow though since my voting power is already drained today, thanks for understanding).

I use @ecency almost exclusively. The phone app is my favorite, but ecency.com is really great, too. If it was not for the phone app when I started here almost 4 years ago, I would not have stayed on the blockchain. Collecting POINTS for everything I do there is a bonus. The team is helpful and responsive and pays close attention to the features that the users need. I'm definitely a loyal Ecency fan!

I like to comment on all the posts into Feathered Friends Community and the Shadow and Reflection Hunters Community, but there are so many I can't always keep up!
It does seem as if I talk a lot! 😁

Thanks for your feedback Melinda! Obviously, Ecency has a lot to offer to its users :) I think I will take a closer look at it. That´s a very positive review.

Give it a try... Let me know if there are things you can't find. To keep it less cluttered they have put many things behind little drop-down arrows. I'm always happy to help if you have questions.
I'm sending you 100 POINTS.

Hive.Blog I think it was the first I used and I guess I am just too stubborn to change it.

Haha exactly the same here :D I am a pretty conservative person I guess. In fact, Hive.Blog was also the most similar frontend to Steemit where it all began for me :)

I use hive.blog and Ecency mobile app. I prefer hive.blog for posting but love the fact that Ecency sends me notifications on my phone! I kinda use them simultaneously and get the benefits of both.

I actually don´t do anything on my phone except for checking the activities related to my account on HiveTasks, which is why I don´t need any mobile app :) If I did, I would probably use Ecency too. I mean all I do on Hive, I do it on my laptop on Hive.Blog ;)

I’m driving kids around quite a bit and keeping busy so I basically do EVERYTHING on my phone. I just use the phone browser for hive.blog. Also All my photos are on my phone so it just keeps life simple for me. Blog anywhere, browse anywhere. Everything in the palm of my hand.

Jedu výhradně na PeakD :-). Zkoušel jsem Ecency v mobilu. Není špatná, ale práce přes mobil mi nevyhovuje. Potřebuji klávesnici a obrazovku :-)

Jo tak to máme stejně, na mobilu ani ránu ;) Že jsi skalní fanda PeakD, si pamatuju už dávno ;) Díky za příspěvek k tématu.

PeakD on my laptop I like how it looks and additional functions. Ecency on mobile device. However browser version of Ecency provides the best searching experience.

peakd because i like how it looks, and i am using it for their day one so i think i just got used to it.
dapplr is nice for mobile. i just don't use it a lot, as i am mostly on my pc, especially this last 12 months.

Wow, I didn´t even know there was this "dapplr". Actually, I do all my Hive stuff on the laptop. I only use my phone for checking out my stats on HiveTasks when I don´t have my laptop with me :)

I primarily use the following three: PeakD, Leofinance and Eccency.

Leofinance: More Leo Rewards
PeakD: My starting front-end and I like the search feature. There also some other things not available or easy to find in Eccency.
Eccency: Primarily use this one as it is easier to search through my feeds.

Thanks for this valuable feedback, I am glad someone also mentioned LeoFinance. I have heard a lot of good things about them lately...

I always used peakd before now. Its interface is beautiful and it has various features too. Up until recently, Say a month ago, I started using ecency. First the web and now the app and I most say it has being brilliant. Cool interface, latest and new update regularly, bonus reward point just for using it, etc.

Its being a great experience for me.

Interesting, thank you for sharing your experience and opinion. I actually didn´t even know Ecency had a desktop version until very recently. I need to give it a shot I guess :)

I use Peakd, it seems to me that it is very good, although this week I had problems with vertical photos, it loaded them horizontal

Oh really? That´s interesting. Hive.Blog has some bugs quite often but it never dared to rotate my photos (so far) :D

That bothered me a lot because I had to discard about three vertical photos :(

Wrong orientation of your photos is a fault of your phone. Instead of loading photos into your post directly from your phone put them first into a photo editor app and that will fix the problem with orientation I load my photos into Pxlr before adding them into my post

Hello! I don't think it was that because I didn't upload the photos with my phone but from my laptop

I use peakd just because it seems the most friendly interface for me :D

(Edited)

That´s what I have been hearing for a long time already, from various people, yet my conservativeness makes me stick with Hive.Blog :D But there are certain things (like witness votes reviews) that I use PeakD for :)

I like to use PeakD for posting and creating templates, mainly because their side-by-side editor makes it easier to visualize how the post is evolving. For some odd reason I prefer hive.blog to check notifications and repplying--I don't know, it looks... say... more straight forward, or maybe it's because I'm just used to the interface.

You actually have that side-by-side post editor on Hive.Blog too ;) But yeah, generally speaking, Hive.Blog seems to be the most straight forward and uncluttered frontend to me (maybe just because it lacks the features that the other frontends offer though :D). Anyway, thanks for your contribution mate :)

Ya, sometimes less is more. I also prefer hive.blog to handle the wallet.

Hello, I use ecency for points to promote my posts, and for the mobile application, which is quite useful for quick notifications.

Peakd, to see payout themes, ticketing, and my favorite is drafts, because it saves time, by having the format defined.

And on the part of leofinance I use https://hivestats.io/ a lot to know daily statistics and know my current voting power, to try to have the best possible ROI, of course, giving upvote to the content that I like and that I value.
