What special skills do you need to work on blockchain development?

I am not a developer. I wish I was but I am not. My engagement in the blockchain space and my interest in future scenarios and uncertainty have led me to situation where I wonder why didn't I learn coding?

I learned HTML and started a course on Java while I was starting out. The main purpose back then was to create and develop websites using those languages. I left that education track and went into public policy. I enjoy this sector but also lament the missed opportunity to work in software development.

Since I always talk about blockchain technology with my friends and relatives, I always get questions and queries around how to involve in blockchain. Not in crypto trading but in blockchain technology. And, I have no answer.

So, I am asking the Hive Community - what education path you may want to go to get into blockchain? Is this a specialized software development sector where you require unique languages? OR you learn the regular programming language but branch out?

I know that Hive posts do not have relatively wider reach. But, I will share this post on Twitter and hopefully it will reach to those developers or prospective developers who are still starting their career.

Hope the answers will help me better answer when someone reaches out.

It's for my nephews and nieces and other young kids. If someone wants to get into this field, they would want this answer.

I'm not a developer, I only know some basics but for what I've seen and have learned on Hive something very useful besides HTML would be CSS and JavaScript. That would be for frontend development, for the backend developers also use a lot of JavaScript with other technologies.

Las year I started learning how to code and found this website: https://www.freecodecamp.org/ (it's free). My journey took me somewhere else but it might be useful for you. I still want to learn how to code but right now I'm too busy working in other areas so maybe I'll just partner with a coder, I already have a friend who knows a lot about this, and he is learning how to code on HIVE.

Two things that pop out in my mind, Information Technology and Engineering. Those two are closest to your dream of becoming a blockchain enthusiast. It's not that it is the ticket of becoming one. Everyone can learn blockchain even if you don't have formal education. That's the best thing about now - everything is readily available. You just need to have courage to pursue them.

I'm starting Java now, maybe it's too late but it's a good start for me.
