Immediately funny and helpful suggestions for my land-backed project

avatar

I was so excited to write this post last night, its been on my mind for a while and I really wanted to give you all an update. Several people have expressed interest in the project even before I made this more clear post about where we are headed, and its only fair that I update them and keep them in the loop!

I immediately started to receive some feedback, much of which was helpful.

The first thing that was noticed was the word 'hostel', which has since been removed and replaced with 'Resort Getaway'. Hostel, while a common word down here, actually has a few meaning, and some of them not so good. The most recent selfie that I posted, buying a chainsaw, made perfect sense in my head, as I am headed down to the land today to clear a spot for an entrance way so that we can get the electrical installations started. (pictures to come) But that wasn't as clear in everyone elses mind....

I honestly should probably not post this, but I laughed so hard and seriously continue to giggle when seeing this image. So this is definitely not the branding we want to go for, so we are going to avoid the word 'hostel'.

Based on some discussion, something in the neighborhood of

Colombian Jungle Paradise Vacation Getaway Resort and Casino

just a working title.

On to a more serious note, some people were concerned about security, and we had some talk about travelling in Colombia, which is most definitely safer than people imagine, but still carries risks especially for those who do not speak spanish.

The clear and obvious solution would be to offer a shuttle directly from the airport to our resort, this is pretty easy to do and I have worked with a number of private drivers in the past.

Travelling in Colombia is easy and cheap, as long as you know how to do it and speak spanish. For everyone else, we'll pick you up.

Another discussion came up about rooms. 'Hostel' is perceived as dingy and cheap, and that is definitely not what we are going for. While we will have a large room for several bunk beds, we want to have a range of private rooms as well, in this case it could easily be a Hotel or Resort, with a communal living option.

image.png

The group rooms, bunk bed style, is a cash flow model, it is common here as many local people travel on the cheap to visit their country. I would expect most VIPs would come to stay in a private room, and there was a lot of talk about what benefits we can offer to VIPs while they are here.

We can also accept crypto - HIVE, LTC, or even select HIVE-ENGINE tokens could be used to pay for room and board. This opens up a real possibility that by blogging about the experience, which is really marketing for the project, visitors could earn enough tokens to pay for part or all of their experience.

What other suggestions might you offer me? Thoughts, comments, concerns or questions? Let me know by leaving me a reply!

Freedom and Friendship!

The Gateway Resort branding vs Hostel is the right Call. Hostel can sound dingy.

You can also push ECO-Vacations. Take on tours of local properties. Work with local farmers on local projects etc...
This type of "vacation" that also helps/gives back is popular.

But I would expect the VIP's to not really care.
You could have some day trips for the VIP's to local INSTAGRAM spots. So they can post, blog etc.

Just a few quick thoughts on my way out the door.

Looking forward to this!

Any plans for solar on the VIP rooms? or the whole resort?

I have seen some local solar installations recently that makes me think this is a real possibility! Some great suggestions here

Firstly I would begin by segmenting or breaking up the land into a few protions, to maximise its ecological and commercial value.

First, lets take a look at its location. From its Geological location, Lerida seems to be sitting quite far from the sea level. I'm going to assume that it is sitting on a Chain of mountains (of course much smaller than the rocky mountains). From the map below, it shows that its sitting on the Magdelena Valley. Im not an expert geologist but from its geography. I'm going to assume that earthquake tremors are a common thing. But nevertheless its a very mountainy place. and we have to plan for earthquake protections. which isn't cheap.

Based on your map and I'm going to assume that the Lerida highway is the main road that passes through your piece of land and there is a stream that flows almost parallel to the lerida highway. Which is a fantastic gift.

So, Here's how i would segmentise the land : -

  1. Hightech Agriculture, and Aquaponic as one segment of the land.
  2. Eco tourism Destination and ducational parks for the mass market.
  3. Mix developpment commercial, and or uniquely shaped middle income hotels and shellets.
  4. 5 star hotel - this last one is optional depending on the geography and size of your land.

Before I move on, lets talk about the local community, because it is useless to build something, without considering the needs of the local community. Just by looking at the map, I can tell that Colombia is a very very rich country, and there is a high possibility that it has abundant natural resources, and looking into its past history and seeing how someone Pablo and the Medelin Cartel could thrive there. To me, Pablo Escobar was a product of its predecessors. and one can only assume that corruption and nepotism is considered a cultural norm or habit to a certain extent.

I would start this town planning with 2 things in mind. First, in a place like that, the first thing that would kill a project this size (its neither big nor is it small), is cost overrun. I would start it with a vocational school, it has to be certified at least at the national diploma 1 or 2 level. Teaching, basically, wood works, vertical farming aquaculture, and tourism. Depending on how colombia's law is structured, and basically who could influence a decree in your area, that the person that would be the front of that vocational school. The idea is, parents send their kids, they take classes, and do the leg work for x number yrs and they get certified. This way, at least you cover the interest of the locals and give value to their family's future.

Second thing i would execute is the blueprint of the farm/aquaculture/aquaponics and licenses necessary (environmental assessment & planning) and ready to start the first investment rollout. These token are strictly based on the traded value of the coin and its dividens, a nice 35% should be kept and to be shared with the operators of the place. This is the best for initial investment because its low in cost, quick to construct and investors

I would also errect a saw mill, because i see that there is ample raw materials lying around, and from its climate type, the wood would have nice seperate rings and any common man would deem any of those polished wood expensive.

Im not too sure about how much water goes through the place, but I would strongly recommend that you go for mini hydro (https://openjicareport.jica.go.jp/pdf/174016_04.pdf) I especially like the ones built by the japs. Im not sure about the power permits you require. depending on country. Certain countries allow you to generate up to a certain wattage before you need a full fledge license, and basically you could sign PPA's (power Purchase Agreements), but thats not what we're looking into. Just to have this place fully sustainable.

Once this is done. Then, I will roll out the mix development and probably negotiate with a branded hotel to operate the 5 star that they will assist to design but paid up by us. This is to bring a good spread of lower income to higher income earners all in....welll... almost one place.

However, you design the governance token to be, I believe could be decided to serve the policies that you construct in order for this place to be well governed. You could sell it as a land backed token with lifetime time sharing, again its still early and whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve.

Last but not least, I will run plan the development in this fashion. 5 star hotel where the water hits the land and agri/aquaculture at the last. this is to control polution levels and to preserve the original construct of its landscape.

One final word. I do not believe that a group of people could decide what is best for a place that they know nothing off, especially when its of a different culture and language. So, if you would like to include decision making to your governance token, then the token holder would need to go through some form of training and examination before they are given that sort of power.

If you askme. I would structure it this way. The people from Hive community fund raise about 2million USD. for a Blank Cheque company called Ecoinstant Capital, we SPAC that on Nasdaq, and your private equity goes around the globe purchasing and NFT real estate.

Again, it really depends on how you see your life to go from here. Because one way or another, you're going to be bogged down with plans and coordinating. My teacher always tells me, weather you do high value or low value work. It still takes up your time. He always ask me to choose wisely. hahahaha
