Perfect weather for the Swimming Pool

Very early morning walks

Today a day with tropical temperatures of 39 degrees again here in the sunny south of our small Netherlands. To relax and perfect weather for doing nothing you would think. We thought something different about that. Dogs just want to have their activities. In the very early morning you get out of bed extra early to make the miles before the sun comes up and the temperature is still cool at 18 degrees. Then the dogs lie down nice and quiet, but I had another job on the program today.

A job with the swimming pool had to be done today

The swimming pool, which was bought at the beginning of this summer, had been given a place in the garden where the ground was most flat. It took some time to try whether that would turn out to be the most suitable place, and now after 2 months I have come to the conclusion that a better place for the swimming pool had to be found. The water could not heat up properly because there was too little sun on the pool due to the trees in front of it. And shade in your garden is wonderful, of course, but you would prefer your pool to warm up with the warmth of the sun. In addition, too many leaves from the trees were blown into the water, so that the filter was constantly clogged and could no longer do its job. Buying a new filter every time is not the solution ... but no filter is not an option either. So the pool had to be emptied today, moved and then repaired the filter, refilled the pool and reconnected the filter pump… not really very convenient to do that on a day when it gets 39 degrees. But hey, on the other hand… I only revive when the temperature rises above 25 degrees.

First a small pool to test it out

It takes a while to drain the pool. 1600 liters of water is not just gone. But of course that does not matter, enjoy with your feet in the jet of water that comes out and play with the dog in between. Then you find out that they place such a drainage hole at a height so that you eventually have to scoop the last water with buckets and when that was done, I raised the pool to clean it thoroughly with a high-pressure water jet. After I was satisfied with that again, it was time to move the mats that are under the pool to the place where the pool should be and to spray them well, put the pool back on and time to start filling it up again! Filling 1600 liters did not take place in 15 minutes either… but don't worry, Skipper soon found it interesting enough to want to get back in the pool. And of course he was allowed to. After all, the dogs have been the biggest factor in the decision to buy a pool. And not so big this year because I first wanted to test whether they really liked it. But now that I know how we all enjoy it… there will definitely be a bigger one next year.

Skipper jumped in

While the garden hose was hanging in the pool to fill it up again, Skipper thought it was enough to wait. He jumped in like crazy and started playing with his ball. Unfortunately, he and Lana cannot be outside at the same time, due to Lana's persistent heat… and how much fun Skipper plays like that, there is little left of it when Lana is around. Then he is only busy with Lana, and she sure doesn't feel the same way. Lucky enough! So a pity but unfortunately, together outside is just not an option until Lana is no longer in heat. And Skipper has his hormones under control again.

The dogs each have to wait their turn

To ensure that Lana can also enjoy it, the dogs have to wait for their turn now. And Myla is the luckiest, because she can be there all the time, and 11-year-old Myla enjoys that to the fullest.
