Pen Portrait Drawing of a Young Woman

Hi everyone! Sharing with you today a portrait drawing of a young woman using both pencil and pen for shading,

It was important to get the highlights in the eyes as they give the portrait more depth and the pen dots represents the freckles which adds an interesting effect. I was aiming for a fairly simplistic style not realistic while still capturing her expression.

Completed on A5 paper with faber castell pens.

Have you considered fountain pens for your drawing? Have a look at this older post of mine:

Faber-Castell also makes some excellent, low-priced fountain pens. Unlike the "Happy Pen" they're available with fine nibs if required. I tried them with the ink mentioned in my post; they work fine.
