Rule of Thirds, get the most out of your photos

Today I bring you a basic manual on how to take advantage of the rule of thirds, a photographic technique that although it is a bit old and has been replaced by other more modern techniques is still a reference in classical photography.

In my case I chose as subject several flowers that are in gardens near my house. One of the advantages of living among the mountains is a privileged climate allowing the development of a variety of flora.

I took from each specimen 1 photograph that I later processed to reframe, this in the time of the analogical photography was more expensive in the processing. However, digital photography allows multiple adjustments to be made in a software.

In the examples of photography I will always place the first original photograph and the second one applying the rule of the thirds applying only two changes cutting in relation of aspect 1:1 to have total control on the processing, and the other change is to reposition the subject that I am going to photograph in one of the four points of the rules that are composed by three frames by three, either horizontally or vertically. The trick is simple according to semiotic studies human vision is balanced in the points nearer to more corners of any square in the case of photography is supposed to always show a subject and whatever the rule is always the same dynamic.

The idea of playing with the rule of thirds is to achieve greater drama and power of attention on an image in question and the viewer is attracted in a shocking way.

Among the basic rules of composition I personally think that everything is valid, as long as you take into account something that is really visually attractive, there are many elements in real life that I am not nice, I am not the one to impose visual aesthetics but if you take as a reference the textures, the light, in other words create or force the perfect atmosphere to make a capture then it will be successful and recognized by other people.

Keep in mind that you can practice with different subjects, I have chosen flowers, you can choose faces, animals, buildings in the city the limit is creativity so it is very practical to make the rule of thirds, you will never get bored because there is always something new to capture.

I invite you to keep an eye on a series of photography workshops that I plan to hold in the community of Hive. Follow me and talk about it.

Hi @eeks

Okay, fine. I'll try to be precise and get to the point.

What are the chances you'll support me with two automatic votes a day? I'm making quality publications twice a day, seven days a week. My plan is to use the rewards to fund a puppet workshop project in poor neighborhoods in Venezuela.

The other way would be for you to delegate my account to curate art publications and the like, so I could increase my voting power and get rewards that can still be used for the puppet workshops.

Any way you can contribute is welcome. Thank you for your support of my publications.

Greetings and thank you

P.D If you need some information to validate the workshop I'm doing.

Would be easier for me just to delegate you HP for curation. I don't do automatic voting but I do typically upvote good content that is underpaid from people I follow.

Do you think with a 10k delegation you could do a good job curating art publications?

Hi @eeks

I understand your policy. Thank you for voting for my publications when they are not well rewarded.

Of course I would be able to do a good job, I have a list of users who post very good quality artwork and are usually not well rewarded. I have a plan to control the curate and to take advantage of it.

The delegation would be useful for everyone, supporting good quality content and with Hive power I could grow the account to self-finance the puppet art project
