The Art of Imitation—To Observe and Learn

When we see people acting in movies, we praise their talent, but when in real life one starts to imitate or act like someone else we discourage. When one acts like whom he isn't, people will be starting to ignore or mock him. We always want him to be the same as we expect.

There are morals like it' isn't good to act in real life, but when one needs to change his personality or add a new routine or characteristic to his life, there's some acting needed in real life. Our society has a lot of introverts, most of them are just being an introvert because of their fear.

I've been at that place, I feared a lot about being at a social ceremony or even little programmes in school and college. I lived like that saying lot of lies to myself, I lied to myself that "I don't have any fear, it's just because I hate the society". It was the biggest lie that carved most part of my life.

It's from the first year at college change has started, I usually tried to choose the company of people who were shy like me. But at the college everything went the other way, my friends were very much social. Everybody knew them and everyone was talking to them and a lot like that.

After being with them about a year I learned a lot. The answer was that they were once like me, Still all my characters are inside them. but they were good actors. So they covered it up with acting like being social. When I talked about this about them, they said there's still a bit fear inside them. But they know how to deal with it.

It was great, At first, I accepted the fact that I don't hate the society it's just my fear. Then I started learning their mannerisms and actions so that I could use that to other scenarios in my life. At first, it was hard, Acting like one we are not is always hard. But the thing was eventually it was to act, now it' normal.

I don't become that much social like them, but there's a difference. There's a great change from one I was before. When I do certain things sometimes I feel like I am acting my friend's role in my life.

I never say it's good to copy like someone, but it's good to learn from everyone around us. Even the bad ones have some quality we could adapt and use for ourselves to be a better person. I think that's what learning is. It's better to find our own version of the ideas to adapt, not like just copying as exact.

Like that we can update ourselves and bring some change to life.

"Don't fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become it."

I understand where up coming from when saying: acting in real life is discouraged. Though what is acting? The fear you had; The low level of being social; Isn't this the outcome of how you developed in early life? I know people gain certain characteristics, some of them maybe biological, in the genes, but many of them are the result of what we've learned. The only way to change those elements we like to change, is to behave as we want to behave, not as we tend to behave by default. This tendency to behave in a certain way, may not be ourself, but something we learned as well. I for one, also changed come of my characteristics as well, mostly by 'acting' until the moment the behaviour become my default behaviour, resulting in a changed person. To the topic of fear: Fear is not something we are born with, it is something we learned. Not feeling the fear anymore, means we need to unlearn the fear. Glad you took the effort to learn from others, and walked the path to unlearn the fear.
