Just Let Sleeping Dogs Lie ..

A Five Minute Free Write ..

Today's free write was inspired by my pup Pepper and his ability to find comfort pretty much anywhere. This morning he chose a pretty good location and one which he frequents often actually. So my daily dose of self given advice.. Just let the sleeping dog lie :-P

Today, Like Everyday ..

My dog Pepper finds a small place in this world to find comfort and rest. He lies upon a leather chair which he has claimed as his own. Perched high, above his small restricted world below, he rests in wait of things. Movements from afar or vibrations from near. He has gone def to the sounds I take for granted, but he is unmoved by this inability to hear. He uses his other senses to keep ahead of his surroundings and watches my approach with care and tact. Nestled in his chair, dare I move him for my own selfish needs. Surely by no fault of my own he will move. He can not hear me, but he will surely smell this bacon I am preparing for breakfast. What is that I see out of the corner of my eye.. the creature stirs and lifts his head a little. Sniffs into the air and is awakened by smell. Please let him lie if he wants and please let him keep his sense of smell. For I know not what would become of him if he were to loose that too. Nothing to see here, so he returns to his slumber.

I did make the bacon and he did get some! Molly too :-)

My dogs spend a lot of time sleeping, more so that they are getting old now. So we love to make this past time as enjoyable as we can. He did take over my chair though. He can have it. Suits him well.

Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.

For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
