Feeling the pain and gain.

So I started week four of jogging and this time I can literally feel my legs aching. Yesterday was a lot worse than it is today but I generally feel discomfort in my left groin area.

I don't think I've ever been this consistent with jogging and the effect it has had on my body is phenomenal. I haven't gotten a scale to get precise changes in weight but as I said in the past, I feel a lot lighter and more nimble.

Other than the obvious drop in size and potential wardrobe crisis on the horizon due to the said drop in size, I have also noticed that my body's metabolic activities has improved and I take less time to digest food.

People tend to underestimate the importance of having good posture but in reality, it can actually affect your productivity. Since I spend a lot of time on my laptop, I tend to have back pain due to slouching that's caused by the weight of my body.

Prior to this consistent spell of jogging, I intentional walked, stood and sat upright, in a bid to fix the posture and it was such a chore. The seriousness of doing it has largely dropped and this has further improved my productivity since I can spend more time on my laptop.

I'm still not there yet and this is evident to the niggling pains I experience after every jog. At the time of writing this, I can feel some ache in my left groin, ankles and shin. @ebingo tells me that I should consider getting better jogging shoes to reduce this discomfort.

Apparently, the fact that my sneakers are flat and have no soft landing means that the impact from under my feet and the ground is transmitted upwards to cause the pain. Think of it like how the shaft of your car will be at risk if you didn't have a shock absorber.

Other than these discomforts, I'm largely unperturbed by the strain of this jogging program. On days that I don't jog, I do push-ups, play with Bilbo the dumbbell or just rest. Today's going to be one of the resting days because I'm still in a little discomfort. I'll feel better in a bit and will be good to go again tomorrow evening.
