THE BATTLE OF CEBU: Up on the roof.

avatar

Most evenings we are joined on our veranda by these prehistoric night crawlers, usually they hide away in the shadows of the canopy waiting for unsuspecting bugs to fly by and with a sudden burst of speed ambush the critters. It's a great service they provide us keeping on top of the nasty's like cockroaches and mosquito's. These mini dragons are called Tuko's proper name Tokay Gecko, they grow to about a foot long.

Dinosaurs are still among us.

Last night while enjoying our Gin and tonic we were disturbed by a commotion on the roof shortly followed by these two chaps appearing on the wall, they seemed to be having a dispute over territory. Whatever was going on it gave me a rare chance to capture a couple of shots of them out in the open and the white wall provided a great backdrop.

Hey get off my land!

I just managed to get in a little closer to grab one more shot before all hell broke loose and a fight ensued, the slightly larger chap on the left of frame was the victor and the other scurried away, "he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day" to steal a quote from the late great Bob Marley.

The current champion.

After chasing away the intruder, the "new lizard weight champion of Cebu" took his rightful place in the roof of our veranda, settled back in it was time to return to the important business of the night, catching dinner!

King of the roof!

HAHAH funny commentating. Those guys are colourful there. In Jamaica we call them croaking lizards because they croak so loud LOL.

Oh yeah, they are noisy as hell, cool thing to have about the place though, back in the UK we get nothing like this so it adds a touch of the exotic to our home here.

It really does. I actually miss those critters. I remember FaceTiming my brother in Jamaica recently and saw one on the wall in the background. Smile from ear to ear lol

Where in the world are you these days? I saw a post a while back that gave me the impression you were in Japan but I could have misinterpreted that.
