Sitting at the balcony was a heartbroken me who had just experienced a breakup from my relationship of 8 months. With a lot of unanswered questions, I just stood there watching as the sun set beautifully bringing back those memories I would rather not remember.

I remember how I started working out before the relationship began just because he talked about how much he loved ladies who work out. I would go on diet just to keep fit and worried a lot about being in shape for him because he loves it. At a point it wasn't about what I wanted but what would make him happy. I so obsessed about my physical appearance because I felt that would keep him.

However, despite all I did, he still left me for an average girl who does not even work out regularly. Now, the breakup itself didn't hurt so much, instead knowing that all those things he said he loves about ladies which I did, was nothing to be seen in the lady with him now. No wonder people say that you can't change man unless he loves you and is willing to change, most especially when you think your physical appearance would keep him as yours.

Now I know better, changing myself to suit his picture wasn't the answer. Living my life to please him was wrong, ignoring my wants to feed his was the wrong choice. Now I know, that even though working out isn't bad, my intentions or motive for doing so was wrong. Now I know that instead of giving too much attention to my physical appearance, I should also work on myself mentally because "Me" is not only about my physical appearance but so much more.
