Utah Rocks! Early 2020 edition.

These large chunky rocks were blasted from the sides of this canyon a century earlier in a mining operation - overlooking Springville, Utah.

Multiple layers of spray paint on a boulder above Provo or the 99th layer of the abyss? You be the judge:

Some rocks in Utah have fossils in them. I think this is an ammonite fossil.

There's a hole in the rock, dear Liza, a hole.

Snow rocks.

I kinda fell in love with this rock. It reminds me of a giant organ, like maybe the heart of a stone giant. This is now our front door stop.

Yup Utah Rocks.

Utah has a lot of interesting rocks. We just got some US geologic survey maps of the areas we hike around in the most and it is a crazy jumble of all these different ages and rock formations that have been exposed along multiple faults in the area, the maps are rainbow with all the different colors of rock formations

Cool post @carlgnash, "You ROCK (groans)"...pun intended Utah and the "4 corners" area are one of many places I really need to get off my butt and do something about visiting.
I lived in Tucson Az for about 7 yrs, so I am somewhat familiar with terrain that is OH so different from the relatively flat pinelands where I grew up. Lovely images.

Yeah Tucson is pretty similar to south / east Utah, which is an alien landscape to me as well still (been here almost a year now but still seems crazy). I grew up in very wet and rainy southeast Alaska and then lived in Oregon until recently. Where did you grow up Jerry?

I grew up in South East Georgia (US), so when I went to AZ it was a SHOCK, the transition from super humid most of the time to arid, from trees everywhere to no trees (mostly)

Cool post! Love rocks.. I have collected a few myself, but nothing as big as that brain looking rock. That's pretty cool. I can just envision you stuffing that into your backpack and caring it for miles out of the foot hills. For your sake I hope it is appropriatly named 'Feather Rock' .. haha.. I am thinking not since it is now your doorstop. :-/ Cool doorstop though :-D

It was not light as a feather LOL That would have crushed everything in my backpack, I lugged it out with my arms wrapped around it :)

Luckily I have been on a five year workout plan involving lugging around weights that got progressively heavier over the years... AKA I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old boy LOL We go hiking 2-3 times a week and pretty much every hike at some point I am carrying one, the other, or both of them, straight up a part of the mountain that was too steep for them to go it alone. I remember when I was a new dad how dead my arms would get after carrying them for a while, but honestly at this point I can carry 30 pounds in my arms for miles without even noticing it

HAHAHAhahaha... Your a riot! You had me laughing pretty good while reading that. Next time I am looking to do a camping hike, your my man! I am calling you to haul stuff in and out. hehe.. just kidding. One of the benefits of having children I suppose; Stronger arms and core muscles. :-D

I love it! This would be a perfect post for @shasta's very rocky #BoulderSunday challenge! I'm glad she resteemed it so that your rocks can hang out with all the other great rocks on her page this week! ❤️

oop I totally forgot that Sunday was the boulder day, will keep that tag in mind for future. I have a lot more rock pictures, we spend a couple days every week scrambling off trail up random side canyons with the mountain goats kiddos, who love nothing better than climbing up boulders and jumping off them.

It is a tag I enjoy and check each week! Hope to see more of your rocks!
