Summers at the Lake

Hi fellow Hiveians,

So things happen for a reason, especially in our lives personally. There have been so many scenarios that have happened to us that we think back and know it was for a specific reason that it happened.

Real Family

So without going into too much detail, we’ve got lots of frustrating family drama. Everyone does for sure but when we tell our friends about some of the stuff that’s happened they are like what the hell? Have you been told you’re no longer invited to a funeral? We have! Lol.

So my wife reconnected with her grandmother this year and it’s been great, without going into much detail there either but it’s been a very positive experience for us thankfully. With that, she also reconnected with her uncle which brings me to the point of the post! Her uncle has this fantastic lake house! It’s not a mansion or anything but nobody else in our family has property that close to a body of water. We are incredibly lucky and grateful to have someone to spend time with where we can hang out by a lake! The reconnecting thing happened before the China flu stuff started so it’s authentic and very nice!

The view is perfect, he’s on the side part of a big bend in the lake. It’s also several miles long so we can have a lot of fun exploring areas of it with a canoe or something.

Fishing Again

One of the other really awesome things is that I love to fish. My dad and I would fish a lot when I was growing up but now all he does is salt water fishing. That’s too boring for me. He has fun at it and does well but there’s days where he’s out there all day with nothing. The same can happen with fresh water fishing for sure but I like seeing the trees, land and the animals you do on a pond or lake.

So our son has been fake fishing with wood things and others for about a year now. We got him his first fishing rod and he was loving it! We were a little nervous with him and a pole with hooks on it so we tried the fake fish and he was killing it. He even did his own cast! I was fucking proud of that! I taught him 10 minutes before it and he nailed it. Gotta show @ssiena how to take better faceless pictures of the little one lol.

We plan on being at the lake house every weekend we can. Our son can enjoy the beauty of a life being able to hang out at a lake like I did with a friend growing up and I get to help her uncle. I was having a lot of fun doing yard work today, and the munchkin helped me. Our task was to clean out the weeds from the winter and early spring but also clean up some of the asshole things that people threw on his property like broken bottles, (I picked all of the trash up don’t worry, didn’t risk the little man but he was doing awesome work with a stick pointing them out!) a beer can and a water bottle. Was nice to do work but man I’m exhausted! Not much commenting and outreach for me tonight lol.

Have you got awesome memories like this from childhood? Share them with me in the comments! I would love to hear about them.

Thanks for checking it out! Have you been able to enjoy spending time on a lake in your childhood?

Family drama is seemingly endless - LOL - the nature of tribes when they are socialized from an individual perspective. The lake looks gorgeous. I love teaching kids to feed fish.

Love the deep blue of the water - so calming and soothing.

The water was really nice for a lake. I've seen a few lakes that are really dark and gloomy from the water but this one was actually very inviting. Not a lot of weeds or vegetation in the water which is nice but we haven't been on a boat exploring it yet. Hopefully someday we can get to that point!

We will definitely be having more fun and showing him other things about feeding the fish and turtles and stuff. I will take a picture of it but there's something very precious about the property related to turtles! More to come on that hehe.

This is soa nice although i never had a lake house to go to. My sweetest memories of childhood was learning how to bake for my grandmother in her house. It was so much coupled with the fact that i loved cake so much

Memories you can look back on as an adult and remember fondly are wonderful. I remember cooking some fantastic pasta and pizza with my great aunt (I don't remember my grandmother much unfortunately, one passed away when I was young and I never my my other one) and it really makes me smile when I think about it.

What kid doesn't love cake?!

How lovely to have the opportunity to visit the lake. Your son seems to be enjoying himself. You captured the lake beautifully.

Our son was having so much fun, it's all he's been talking about since we left. Makes my wife and I really happy that he can have something so positive in his life besides us. These are the things you look back on when you get older with very fond memories. I know I loved when I was a kid and visiting a big lake a few hours away every summer for 3 years was fantastic. It teaches you a lot!

Have you been able to do something like that in your life or for your kids if you have any? Even visiting one routinely is awesome!

I live on an Island @cmplxty and the ocean is only 15 min. away. My sister has a cottage and my hubby and I usually visit a couple times in the summer. It’s a afair distance from here so we don’t go that often but it’s a lovely lake.

I’m happy your son is having a wonderful time at the lake. 😊🎣

Ah that’s awesome living on an island! That’s one of the things we hope to do sometime in our lives. It’s so nice having the beach right there and for me being able to do some fishing without having to travel far. It’s nice that your brother comes to visit, I definitely would if my sister lived on an island!

Hey thanks for checking my post out. It’s in beautiful southern New Hampshire! Just west of the hahbah.

Lots of really nice lakes around. This one is not very wide but it’s nice and long so you can really have fun traveling on it.

Aw, look at the little man. Nice mems for sure. Must be great to get out to the lake, non withstanding bloody rubbish - ugh. After the lockdown in UK, that was all in the news - the rubbish on British beaches after a month or so of nature taking a break. I do wish people would see the beauty in themselves and the world, and thus maybe have a bit more respect for it. Jamie has lots of grea tmemories of fishing - he'd like to do it more, but me? Meh. I find it a little boring, though I love getting out in nature so I'm happy for him to fish and me to just hang out or walk whilst he waits for something to bite!

Thanks I know it’s crazy how nice it is to get to hang out at a lake. I haven’t had the chance to in years!

We’ve set our lives up to hang out by ourselves lol cutting people off because they suck, thankfully we enjoy each other’s company.

Fishing is so relaxing for me. I love being in nature walking and stuff but fishing is fun for several hours. Watching the people, boats, birds and stuff is nice. Catching a fish is exciting too but I need more downtime so I understand fishing better now than I did before.
