A month away from the Hive - some observations

avatar

Wow I was just checking out my feed and realised I havent posted in nearly a month here! This is due to a few reasons - mainly due to the fact that I have been back to work, and so time has been alot more precious. Also I was experiencing some ´burn out´ on here, and just not getting much joy from the place sadly. I hope to get back the motivation to keep blogging as I do see the potential. BEing away has made me realise a few things.

The content on Hive is not great - but the interactions are!

Sadly, being away from here for a while has made me realise that the content just isnt world changing or amazing. Yes there are SOME great content creators on here, but they are hard to find amongst all the BS. Some days I struggle to upvote enough worthy content - sad really!

In saying that I have missed the interactions here and it is a great place to meet people from all corners and walks of life and have some great conversations.

Rewards are still unfair and very unvenly distrubuted

I know this conversation has been had MANY times before, but it still stands true - some people make loads on there posts while some are great others arent overly amazing. It has got alot better in recent times, but still needs some tweaking to ensure good content actually gets noticed!

And then there is the downvoting saga which continues and complicates things - some larger accounts just go on rampages and seem to target people with massive downvotes - STOP IT!

The hype is BIG, but only within the community...

Hive users seem to live in a bubble at times and think that we are at the forefront of the blockchain revolution - we are not... yet. There are loads of cheerleaders here, which is great, but we need much more of this going on outside of Hive so others know about the developments. We can have the most amazing place in the world but if people dont know about it then it will never go far!

Conent for contents sake

This has bothered me for ages on here - people pump out sub par content day in day out, with some still getting decent enough rewards. There just isnt enough incentive to write better and more meaningful content but less often. Obviously this is due to the 7 day pay out window, which I think stinks.

Surely having a longer payout window would be a way to keep good content relevant for much longer periods of time? After 7 days even the best piece of work becomes worthless and lost never to be seen again!

Although a bit of a rant I am still happy with Hive and keen to get back and become a bit more active again.

Would love feedback as always
