Hi there, we are complying with the quarantine, I hope you are too, as it is the best way to avoid the spread of Covid19 to stay home.

I will continue to tell you about my visit to Upata, a town located in the State of Bolivar.

I went to Buen Retiro to learn about the process of manufacturing the cassava that I told you about in my previous post ......link.... we passed by this chapel dedicated to the Anima de San Agustín Parasco, a very particular chapel located in the hamlet of AltagracAnim

The sector of Altagracia lives from the cultivation of yucca, vegetables, corn in it you can also see some cassava and cattle. It borders on Mamonal and the high hills that separate it from the Yocoima Valley.

But who was San Agustin Parasco?

Agustín Parasco was a recruit from the beginning of the century who died in those raids that the government carried out to cover the demand of the battalions.

At that time Venezuela was full of guerrilla groups against the government so military recruitment was constant and compulsory.

Agustín Parasco has been attributed by his believers the place where he who believes with faith will receive his favors.

On the walls of his chapel are hung plaques that range from simple thanks for the favor granted to academic degrees from courses, high school to university.

In this way the believers show that they value the favor received from Agustín Parado.

In the chapel there are also images of other saints and virgins under the bust of Agustín Parasco where they place candles and flowers.

I am not particularly fond of saints or images, but I am respectful of the beliefs of others in Latin America.

The villages of Venezuela are full of beliefs, myths and legends.
