VISIT PORTUGAL_ Leça da Palmeira ( Sea Line Sculpture)

avatar

5 minutes from Porto airport is Leça da Palmeira, for many people it is considered the most beautiful land in Portugal, in fact, it is a very beautiful land, with a lot to visit. Who has a flight and wants to go early, can be a very good lap before the flight, if you arrive earlier than expected.
It is a land with an incredible avenue, with many tourist and historical points to visit.
Today I am going to talk a little about this land and its monuments.
The land belongs to the district of Porto inserted in the city of Matosinhos.
Unfortunately, we do not have a subway in these areas and the only way to get there is by car or bus.

A work that I bring today and it is quite contested because the majority of the population does not like it and thinks that it doesn’t fit with a beautiful landscape that I also don’t enjoy and after all I know that it’s 300 thousand euros in something I don’t like leaving the state coffers costs even more.
Recent work opened in 2020 at the beginning, apparently without much significance

A sculpture located next to the Boa Nova Lighthouse, on Avenida da Liberdade, in Leça da Palmeira. Called "The Sea Line", a piece composed of HA400 iron beams presents a new perspective on a sea horizon line and suggests different interpretations through shape and geometry and its overlap with the ocean. Composed of five groups of beams, being limited using this material, the sculptural ensemble fits in a scenario of vertical lines of variations of options arranged on a horizontal base along 40 meters of the marginal margin displayed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

To mark the moment of the inauguration, the author and promoter of the poetry Isaque Ferreira, declare some poems by António Nobre, Florbela Espanca, Isabel Meyrelles, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen and Egito Gonçalves.

To be present at this ceremony of the President of the Municipal Assembly of Matosinhos, Palmira Macedo, or Vice President of the Chamber of Matosinhos, Fernando Rocha, and the artist Pedro Cabrita Reis.

Pedro Cabrita Reis graduated in the field of fine arts - painting, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. He is one of the main artists of his generation. He has exhibited and participated in several international exhibitions, including Documenta IX, in 1992. In 2003, he represented Portugal at the Venice Biennale. Currently, he participates in the 10th Lyon Biennial, with two major works. In Hamburg Kunsthalle, his first exhibition in a German museum, shows about sixty sculptures, including paintings, drawings and photographs.
