Generation

The beginning of the generation says, and I quote: Generation exists everywhere, everything has its male and female principles. Generation is maintained on all levels.

The principle of generation refers to creativity. What gives us to understand something new, it is necessary the conjugation of two energies, the masculine and the feminine, if this conjugation doesn't happen, then the manifestation doesn't happen. This principle is closely related to the principle of polarity because it speaks of two opposing energies, but it differs from that because it refers exclusively to the process of creation.

This principle has nothing to do with sex, sex is one of its manifestations. Beyond our sex, we are all carriers of masculine and feminine energies and we have to achieve the perfect conjugation of these to obtain success in life. The man who is macho, that is to say, who has polarized himself in the extreme of the masculine energy, sooner or later will not suffer for the lack of his receptive, intuitive or imaginative side. On the other hand, the woman who is very dependent or submissive, polarized in the feminine energy, will also suffer from the lack of initiative and self-confidence. Regardless of our sex, everyone has to develop both their masculine and feminine side to feel balanced.

We must remember that for electricity to exist there must be two poles, the positive and the negative. Only the combination of both produces electricity. The symbol of Yin-Yang represents the perfect harmony between the masculine and feminine energies. The black part symbolizes the Yang or masculine energy. According to this symbol, exactly where the feminine energy ends, the masculine energy begins and vice versa. Also note that inside the black part there is a white circle, this means that in the heart of the feminine energy there is the masculine energy and also the white part. Each of them needs the other to complement each other and achieve the perfect balance.

Today, due attention is paid to physical fitness, although not everyone is aware of the extent of its effect on our forays into the plain of reflection and the sea of change, not to mention attempts to climb the mountain. If we are grounded and focused on the physical body, we will benefit more from the practice of meditation.

It is obvious that it will be easier for us to fully concentrate on the meditation exercise if we are not exhausted, do not faint from hunger, nor are we unbearably uncomfortable. It is also obvious that a good physical condition influences positively everything we do. Good muscle tone favors good mental tone. A body with low energy leads to a depressed state of mind. And posture is much more important than is generally thought.

To meditate it is essential to sit in an upright position, although at the same time one must be relaxed. We must sit like a mountain, or like a sturdy old oak tree, awake, alert, relaxed and completely solid. There are few people whose physical conditions prevent them from sitting properly. If you are one of those people, do not be discouraged, because meditation can benefit you in many ways. The rest of us can use this posture as a powerful aid to our practice. Apart from the fact that the whole body, including the brain, is designed to work best in an upright, balanced and relaxed posture, there are several reasons why the practice of meditation benefits especially from good posture.

One of the reasons to sit properly during the practice is because body and mind affect each other. If the body is still and centered it is easier for the mind to reach a similar state. A body that is unbalanced, off-center or uncomfortable, constantly asks the mind to do something about it, incites anxiety and makes it difficult to concentrate.

For example, if a person were to sit with his shoulders up and forward, and his head down, the body would feel as if it were hiding from something, trying not to be seen. Then, unconsciously, the mind would look for threats and dangers to avoid, and when we look for something to fear, we always manage to find it. The consequence is that we believe that whatever we find is what frightens us, without realizing that it is we who are frightened. Instead, a focused and balanced body feels and projects tranquility and well-being.

The body language says all sorts of things about us, that we are angry, exhausted or unbalanced, that we are unable to bear ourselves, or that we are ready, centered and balanced. Our habitual posture sends messages to others and to ourselves about our personality and attitude to life.

Stand in front of a mirror in your usual position, look at yourself with the eyes of a stranger who wonders what kind of person you see. Reflect on the messages your body sends to you and others, and you may want to change them. The message that the body should give to the meditating mind is that it is centered and settled, relaxed, attentive and calm; these attitudes are also very useful in everyday life.
