VG music that should be in your playlist

Work can be daunting at times, especially when there are large number of patient samples. Sometimes, I like to tune in to some music while tackling each test ordered by clinicians.

Unlike a work out track, work track for me tends to require more mental stimulation. In a hilarious sense, I often find myself go for battle themes from various RPGs. That's right, I'm talking about your Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, Persona, etc.

One of my favorite tracks in this genre is, in fact, from Persona 5. The song title is Last Surprise. Have a listen.

Some of you may wonder which genre the music of this game belongs to. A quick digging around the internet says it's acid jazz. It's a mix of jazz, funk, and hip hop. I definitely did not know that. For a long time, I thought it was hip hop only.

I know most of you don't work overnights, but having motivation late at night can make a huge difference. Even if it's only good for keeping you awake.

Of course, this track also contains a somewhat dark spin since a certain event last year.

Some of you may know of Etika, whose real name is Desmond Amofah. Etika passed away last year via suicide. There was a series of events that led up to that conclusion. For a while, I followed his content. I mean, I can't complain about a guy who likes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and game titles such as Undertale, etc.

For a more concise history, please visit his Wikipedia page.

If you pay attention to his video, he talked about how he wanted this particular song to play at his funeral. It seemed innocent and a joke without more context from his life. One could even say it's his subconscious spewing out that comment in hindsight. Of course, everyone laughs because it's Etika. You enjoy watching the content creators you like. Was there any reason for concern? Maybe not at the time.

The main chorus of the song is "You'll never see it coming!"

And dang, looking back, many people didn't. His comment definitely put a dark spin on this piece. What his passing did was raising more awareness for mental health. There's even a mural dedicated to him.

This mural is in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Does that stop me from enjoy this particular track? No, it doesn't. It does, however, remind me of a cool content creator I used to like. No, he wasn't perfect. He had his controversies, but I was there for his content.

And this track definitely belongs in one of your playlists.

According to the Bible, In Matthew 17: 1-5, was Matthew in the mountain with Jesus?

I still dig the goofy soundtracks to the first Ratchet & Clank games when I am in the right mood.

I haven't played any of them by myself. I’ve always watched someone else playing it. I do remember Mr. Zurkon being a funny little thing.

I bought @dismayedworld a PS4 and Persona 5 for Xmas. Shes just got around to playing it. I loved Persona 4 and will nick '5' from her at some point.

You say you haven't tried the Persona games, you should. They are highly rated for good reason.

Yeah, this is one of those games I have only watched my friends play, but I have always liked the soundtracks.
