Ever heard or seen a green leaf that changes or turns to red colour when boiled? If no then not to worry I will definitely take you on a trip to it, I promise I was going to do that when I made a post few days ago on my enema experience😀😉😉

This leaf is scientifically called Justicia secunda Vahl and it belongs to the family of Acanthaceae is commonly known as “bloodroot” and “sanguinaria” in Barbados and Venezuela respectively.
In South-Eastern Nigeria, it is locally called “obara bundu”. The Ogbia people of Otuoke-Otuaba, Bayelsa, Niger-Delta region of Nigeria calls it “asindiri” or “ohowaazara”. Justicia secunda grows in humid soil around rivers or creeks and can be located in tropical and pantropical regions of the world

J. secunda leaves are used for treatment of wound, anemia, and pain within the abdominal region. The leaf decoction of J. secunda is consumed in some parts of Nigeria, Cote-d’Ivoire, and Congo for the purpose of improving hematocrit count. Research has shown that Justicia secunda leaves possess anti-sickling, antimicrobial, antihypertensive and hematinic activities.

The anti-inflammatory potential of J. secunda leaves in animal model for 24 h was reported by Onoja et al. Phytochemical evaluation of J. secunda leaves detected alkaloids, polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, leucoanthocyanins, quinones and anthocyanins. In addition, quindoline, luteolin, auranamide, secundarellone A, B and C, aurantamide acetate, and pyrrolidone derivatives have been documented for J. secunda leaves.

Inflammation is the body’s protective mechanism elicited in response to mechanical injuries, microbial infections, burns, and other deleterious stimuli that may threaten the host health. It can be classified as either acute or chronic inflammation. Acute inflammation occurs as an immediate response to trauma, usually between two hours while chronic inflammation occurs as an ongoing response to a longer-term medical condition. Chronic inflammation has been claimed to cause the most significant death in the World.

Clinically, inflammation is defined as a pathophysiological process characterized by pain, redness, edema, heat, and loss of tissue function. This process involves changes in blood flow, increased permeability of vascular tissues, and tissue destruction via the activation and migration of leucocytes with the synthesis of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and local inflammatory mediators, including prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and platelet-activating factors induced by phospholipase A2, cyclooxygenases, and lipoxygenases.

In this part of Nigeria it is said that Justicia secunda Vahl has the power to revive blood, so many calls it the Blood of Jesus😀😉. It revives blood quickly than you would ever think or imagined.

How to prepare it:-

First you pluck in from your farm or where ever you intend getting it from, you wash it thoroughly to avoid sand.

After that you put it in the pot you would want to use, add the quantity of water you want, then place it on your stove or better still Cook it using the firewood.

Give it some time then it will boil, you keep checking it till the green leave turns Into red colour. When it changes to red colour you then allow it to steam for sometime then you bring it down.👇👇👇👇👇👇

On bringing it down, you get a clean bucket, with a transparent but clean cloth place it above a sieve then finally place on a rubber then empty the whole content into the transparent cloth,

and so it will pass from the cloth to the sieve down to the clean bucket, dispose of the leaf, and then carry your blood tonic or blood of Jesus inside your house, allow it cold or you can refrigerate it, when it gets warm or cold you can now drink it.

Most people adds milk to it, and uses it as tea. Any how you think it best for you, you can drink it but let it serve the main purpose of reviving your blood and curing anaemia.
Good you have learnt, if yes please drop a comment and upvote🙏🙏
