Humanity has faced one or if not its greatest test in recent times with the wave of the global pandemic that swept across the planet claiming lives and crippling down economies.

It indeed is troubling times but humans as a specie again has yet proven that they are survivors as we see a glimmer of hope with the gradual easing of lockdowns in many cities, states and nations(New Zealand).

For the first time in the history, we were all confined in our homes as a step for safety, our social life was brought to a halt and in all this despair one statement has been prevalent in the mouths of many and it is "use this lockdown opportunity to learn something new and improve yourself" whether it be a skill or a craft, we were all advised to utilize the free time at home to add some value in our lives by learning something new.

The lockdown was a blessing in disguise as it gave us oppurtunities so vast to self improve. I did a lot of reading and learning and this will bring me into the purpose for today's article. In my course of study coupled with my years in school I have always been in search for techniques that will enable me learn faster and also understand better. I got some few ideas that works penned down here in this article so grab a snack and follow on.

Let's talk....

OK, so I am gonna be sharing some thoughts on how we can improve our learning, by improving our learning speed and ability. This is important because as Nishant Kasibhatla, guiness record holder on memory says

"your learning ability decide your earning ability."

Everyone at this moment in time wants to improve their earning capacity, want to be financially free, some few aspire to become Billionaires in dollars, and if we are going to become that we will have to look out for patterns that the present billionaires in the world have in common and then seek to replicate them because as we all know anything that has been done before can be repeated, some of those patterns include :

  • Passion
  • Clear goals
  • Hardwork
  • Good purpose
  • Commitment
  • Confidence
  • Life long learning.
The afore listed virtues and character traits of Billionaires are easy to replicate in anyone in our pursuit of excellence, and as important all of them are one of them stands out and it is they are all committed to life long learning.

Check out some of the billioniares today, the likes of Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Zukerburg, Kiyosaki and many more, these guys are constantly studying and learning everyday and thus constantly increasing their wealth bank.

We all can repicate this guys attitudes, you can train your mind/brain to learn better and faster and thus develop mastery in any field. This in turns tells us that learning faster will earn you more faster as one who possesses mastery can charge a premium on the value they offer.

How do you learn

Learning is a process that is simply illustrated by inputs and outputs.

IMG_20200611_000406.jpg

1 INPUT(Learn)--- The quality of input during learning plays a major role in the extent of how better you will turn out to be after the learning process. The quality of the input then will refer to the state of mind at the moment of study or reading, the quality of attention given during the time, the quality of the material of which you are studying and also e environment of learning. All these sure determines the quality of the input, what comes in plays a vital role to what goes out, as clearly seen from the word information -- first it has to get in(IN) then it forms something inside of the person (FORMATION), so what goes in forms a mindset that births action. So premium must be placed on the inputs.
With that stated, too much input without output is not a great thing and it is termed by a few as shallow learning. What is the point of learning something if you can't implement it and benefit from it. That is pure intellectual entertainment.
It is thus better to practise deep learning as "for true mastery one need to focus more on the output rather than the input".
Just a note for you to take home.....
In this world where we have so many things to do all at the same time, and many have preached the gospel of multitasking as the panacea to getting things done, we must understand that in the area of learning the reverse is the case and thus we must practise single tasking because the quality of input determines the quality of retention and recall.

2 REFLECT--- Just Like with the input reflecting plays a unique role in the learning process. Meditating on the inputs drives it home deeper. In this stage, you practise pausing, pondering and asking relevant questions. You find real life applications of what you are learning. Remember visualization and association technique you take that input from the material you are learning from, visualize it, give it life and associate it to something real and this will help your recall and retain greatly.

3 IMPLEMENT --- Learning without implementation will only produce the illusion of competence. The feeling of I can achieve it when you necessary have never tried it. The illusion of competence has crippled many as they are overwhelmed with the I can do attitude that they feel no need to get it done, get out of the illusion and act on what you have learnt, only then will you discover your true potential.
It has been drummed over and over again that

a lousy action is better than no action.

So put to work immediately what you have learnt. The Easiest ways to implement while you learn is to practise penning down action points as you learn, as you study and reflect, write out what you will do based on what you learnt and discipline yourself to follow through it.

4** SHARE ---** Giving is a law that births receiving and improvements as its results. When you share what you learn it helps your brain/mind to pay more attention. Have you ever been there when you tried explaining something to someone and in the process of explaining, you began to understand it even more, now that is the idea and the principle behind sharing, it helps you even more than the receiver as you gain deeper insight just for sharing. Get in the habit of sharing what you recently learnt with others, don't hoard knowledge, knowledge shared drives you closer to mastery.

The golden rule to learning anything faster and better is if you spend X amount of time on input, you should spend X2 amount of time on output.

So whatsoever skill you intend to learn, vocation you want to acquire, you might be learning new languages or you are studying a book, never let those moments of learning go to waste again by practising these laid down plans.

Thank you, an until we meet again, i am @Lordwealth and i care. Stay safe.
