FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY | Vietnamese Apples is so tiny...
For this week's post of Fruits and Veggies Monday, I thought I'll share about the locally grown apples. Yeah.. apples from Vietnam; after all, Vietnam is known for it's agriculture. Especially now that most of the agriculture produce are stuck here and not able to be exported.
In most countries, apples are red, rather large in size and very juicy not to mention sweet. Well.. let me just say that it's a total opposite for the apples in Vietnam. Not only are these apples green in color, it's small like the size of a ping pong ball and hardly sweet at all however, still crunchy when bitten. You may wonder what sort of apple is this ... to be honest, I have absolutely no idea at all. When I first arrived in this country last year and had my first apple, I too found it rather strange. Nevertheless, when we're in a foreign land, we try everything and anything especially when it's locally grown.
I saw this man selling these apples last few weekends at the local wet market. As you can see, it's rather small; even smaller when seen from a distance and they are awfully cheap and light weight as well. I chose about 30 pieces of apples and gave it to the seller to weigh and it came up to 1Kg. And it only cost me....
1kg = VND15,000 = USD0.64 = MYR2.70
Baskets of apples for our snack time
Told you it's about the size of a ping pong ball
My 30 pieces of VNmese apples
If you're ever in Vietnam, be sure to ask for these apples. It's worth a try, even just for the fun of it.
I'll definitely share more in my next post. Hope you enjoy my photo taken from my Huawei
