Ulog # 97 | My craving for Indian cuisine fulfilled at Saigon Indian Restaurant

Sometimes I crave for Indian food when I'm in this country. The smell & taste of indian spices and of course the taste of nan & capati bread; not to mention the dhall and curry. Being a Malaysian, having Indian cuisine is a must for everyone. We have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner & supper; more like 24/7. We even bring our kids along with us because it's indeed a family meal.

So, when a fellow Indian friend asked me what I felt like having for lunch; I instantly though of Indian food. She recommended Saigon Indian Restaurant at 73 Mạc Thị Bưởi, Bến Nghé, District 1; very near to the Walking Street ( Nguyen Hue ). Since I've never been to this restaurant, I decided to give it a try.

Located on the first floor, one had to climb through a small stairway and find themselves in a typical Indian restaurant - open space, lots of red & yellow colors, the smell of freshly pounded spices in the air. There were tables set up but only 2 were occupied. Since I was early, I chose a corner table so that we could talk without much disturbance.

My friend recommended that we order their set lunch menu since it comes with 2 selection of main dish & option to have vegetarian or non-vegetarian. I chose non-vege since I wanted to try their briyani chicken and topped up with nan bread and a bowl of briyani rice. Lesson learnt, never order or decide on a empty stomach. We tend to over order.

However, it may be, it was really tasty and I had a satisfying lunch. Absolutely no complaints at all though I regretted not able to try their Mango Lassi but the Rassam was fantastically good. A bit of improvement on the nan bread though, it gets cold very fast and then becomes hardened.

Ultimately, it was worth the price of VND140,000 😘
