What Lies Behind The Mask? // Original Art Plus Random Thoughts

What lies behind the mask?

The lie is the mask.

We all wear masks.

When I was younger I was told not to wear my "heart on my sleeve" ... that I needed to manage my emotional state.
It is true at points. In order to function in society ... specifically a job ... you need to sometimes wear a mask.
If you are feeling angry, you would likely be fired for yelling at customers.
If you are feeling heartbroken, crying hysterically whilst working is probably not the best idea.

So in a sense, we are all actors wearing our masks at the grand masquerade of life ... such is the duality of mankind.

Yay.

Masks suck though.... because it prevents us from fully experiencing our true emotions, and in that sense, we are not in integrity with ourselves.

Art created using Studio Artist, Photoshop ... and my mind.

Most people wear the "mask" because they fear being rejected for who they really are. Personally I don't see any issue with learning to control one's emotions but I really believe in living one's life the way you want to and respecting or at least not being bothered too much with choices made by others. Seems these days people are way too concerned about other people's lives rather than focusing on their own ;) Now if controlling one's emotions doesn't suit someone then I suggest an outlet whether in art (as you do so fantastically might I say) or perhaps sports. Its an interesting topic and thanks for introducing it... As far as being a kid I think we should nurture and encourage children to thrive within who they are in a positive manner rather than trying to make them conform to what is deemed "proper" by society or the parents.
